just resently fitted a d.pipe to make a full scorpion system with a k&n indution kit.
what happens is when exellerating the boost gauge go`s to about 1.2bar+ (only shows 1bar) and the engine cuts out. as the car got hotter it was happening in gears 3-5.
in lower gears i only get 1- 1.1 bar of boost so it does`nt happen. there was also a grinding/growning sound on part throtal might not be related?
is there an easy or simple solution ie could i fix it myself? or is it a main dealer job?
ps its my 97 late model car
regards mike

Could be overboost, I haven't had this as I don’t have big mods, so not sure what you can do to solve it.
1.2 bar is 17.4 psi and I believe the wastegate kicks in at approx. 18 ish psi, so maybe its worth cleaning the pipes and the boost solenoid, in case it is contaminated and the wastegate is kicking in at a lower psi.
Hope that help, if not its put your post to the top again at lest.
Cheers.
Ian.

Sounds like the classic case of Overboost to me. This is often the after effects of fitting a decat DP to an already de-catted centre/free flowing exhaust.
The simple(ish) fix is to put a larger restrictor in the pipe which comes out of the turbo nipple. The trouble is, you need to mess around with differing sizes until you find the one that cures the overboost, but doesn't spoil (slow down) the boost ramp up.
A boost controller is another way to fix this, be it manual (like a Dawes) or an Electronic one (EBC) such as HKS EVC/Apexi AVC-R.
The engine cutting out BTW is when you run too much boost and you hit the fuel cut. This is the safety feature to stop your engine blowing up. You will typically see it in 4th and 5th gear as this is where the most boost is run (which I think is what you've already seen).
Hope this helps,
Matt
