.........When i reset my ecu the car goes great, then after a couple of weeks it seems the the turbo isn't as good.
Any thoughts ?
The car also sounds as if its missing a beat, not a missfire just a small imperfection.
Even when reving to 1500 rpm whilst not moving you can hear it so its not just an idle problem.
Can anyone help please.

Thanks

maybe its because the sti4 ecu is mapped for higher octane petrol.
after a reset, try using octane booster.

well, you never know.

Cool

I have a mere turbo 2000 MY97 but i was told reset was pointless as they had the ecu which compensates better than the earlier cars so shouldn't need reseting just kuz of fuel change?
Am i missin sumin apart from not having an STi

ROSSC:
That's because the ECU starts off with a set of parameters for 100 Octane fuel and backs things off to accomodate lower octanes.
Basically you will be detting after a reset, then it detects this and 'remembers' where it got to before det occured and stores that value for future reference.

Don't do too many resets as each time you are subjecting the engine to 'det' stress, unless you are using 100 Octane fuel or Octane booster of course.

What fuel are you running? On a Jap car you really should be running Super/Optimax plus Octane Booster.

As said above, don't keep resetting the ECU because it's not good for the car, it's getting slower for a reason, and you need to find out what that reason is.

On the ECU learning front, the 97ECU doesn't learn very quickly and an ECU reset is the best way of getting back to where you should be, once you've solved the problem.
