IIRC Richie had a friend assist with the intercooler fabrication. If you are that interested in how it was done, checkout his website containing the details

Sorry, been away from here for a few days
If you seriously want to go for a custom intercooler then have a word with your local Serck who can help you out (there are spread all over the country).
£250-£300 is a rough price for an intercooler with a core measuring 550mm*200mm*50mm (L*H*D).
You then have to add on the price of piping, hoses and clamps which is pretty minimal (£100). I was lucky enough to have a brother who helps manage a metal fabricators to help me out
I am not sure what the best size for a Subaru would be (sorry) but if I can do it then anyone can It just takes patience and thought as to what you need and how to make it fit.
Here are a couple of pics of my own one. Its not a Subaru but it gives you an idea of what can be done -
More info and a direct comparison between my standard car, my standard car fitted with a chargecooler and my standard car fitted with an intercooler (chargecooler removed) can be found at the bottom of the intercooler page found here - http://www.colt.demon.co.uk/CavTurbo...oler_info.html

1)Remove the carpet from under the accelerator pedal
2)Fit a larger spoiler for better aerodynamics
3)Pump the tyres up to 100psi
4)Put some Red Bull in the tank
5)Just do what Redmonster does, tell everyone you got 500bhp
I'll get my coat
Oh, well done by the way

mega,
"3)Pump the tyres up to 100psi"
I know you're only joshing but that will only change the Power At the Wheels figure...
Darren, how much boost are you running? The next step is of course, expensive, requiring mappable ECU, Turbo, FMIC......

Matt peaking 1.3 holding 1.1 cosistantly no det
Richie1 whats wrong with using a bleed valve, set right its given me a good power figure and torques up 17 lbs/ft too.
Is there a hint of jealousy there
Mods £300 complete exhaust
£85 HKS induction
£15 Bleed valve

Bleed valves work in one way and one way only - they prevent the ECU from seeing the level of boost that the car is actually running. Not a wise thing IMHO.
Jealousy ?? Dont make me laugh - larger hybrid turbo, custom front mounted intercooler, Unichip which runs independant (mapped) boost control (22psi overboost, 18psi normal boost) and 3D mapped water injection......
Yeah, I'm jealous

HAHAHA, you have NO idea Darren
Here it is then -
At present all the kit mentioned above is fitted apart from the turbo. This will be on order for end May which conicides with me getting money from work i.e. gauranteed.
Once this is fitted, its off to either Storm Engineering or Owen Developments for mapping.
As such, I dont know the power just now BUT I have had power runs done with the standard car with and without the custom intercooler -
Standard car - 204BHP, 218lb/ft - 0.8 bar overboost/0.6 bar normal (factory standard boost and power)
Standard car with intercooler - 239BHP, 243lb/ft - 0.7 bar overboost/0.5 bar normal boost (less than factory standard boost)
So for around £250 (not £2,500) I gained 35BHP and 29lb/ft
Isn't an STi around 280BHP as standard ??

Ritchie?????????????
Please tell us all where we can get a custom front mount for £250!!
Was it modded from a turbo diesel iveco van by any chance??????
We have these at work and they look like they would fit on an Impreza if modified a little!
And because my STi is a 1996 version 2 it had 265 bhp standard with 102 ron!!!
