i know they are from a type of wrx impreza, speeds are as follows, seems very short.....good acceleration though

1st = 30mph @7000rpm
2nd = 50mph "
3rd = 70mph "
4th = 90mph "
5th = 130mph "

diffs are fitted from wrx too, and wheels/tyres are 205/50V16

any ideas?

thanks, ian.

Sounds very similar to my 95 WRX RA gearing with the exception of 5th. I get 140 @ 7k

thanks for replies, although some more use than others

andy, are you using the same size wheels/tyres?
is it possible that my speedo is incorrect, as 130mph at 7000rpm seems flamin low to me.
when i swapped the box and diffs, i just replugged the legacy wire onto the box. thought that as id changed the diffs too, it wouldnt effect it?

thanks.

p.s. excellent fmic thread david

Btt.

sorry for useless info.

Cheers...

I should really do some more work on it.. but I think I have use of a tig welder now.. so if anybodys got any info on tig welding aluminium they could forward to me?? (I can mig weld ok.. but thats not much help!)

hope you figure your problem... but I was sure the ecu compared engine speed with vechicle speed and lights the check engine light if there are probs.... its not a wrx sensor is it??

its the wrx sensor in the box yes, but the wiring and plug of the legacy went straight on. it does seem right at 70mph on the motorway though.

as for your welding, cant help you there mate. same as you, can mig weld fine, but only done a bit of tig welding years ago.
if you have any particular questions, i can find out because my mate is an aluminium and stainless fabricator.

cheers, ian.
