As title, how compatible are the two? I realise diffs and props etc are required but are the control units the same? Would the original wiring work with a 6speed?
Any info would be great, has anybody done it?
I've searched aplenty, couldn't find anything on the subject
Oh, and yes, I really do want to keep DCCD

depends on the set up you are going for but usually the rear diff will have to be changed, the wiring for the dccd is plug and play, no changes required, its a very worth while conversion, i done one on my ra as went for more power and it also made the car much nicer to drive, the mega high revs on the motorway done my head in lol

Looking into this for my Type R only thing you wont have as far as I found out is the Auto function which I really want.

Also the 6 speed DCCD boxes are very expensive so may be worth looking for a breaker to sell bits off to make some money back.

AS Performance

the 'auto' function wont work on the classics unless you retro fitted the ABS sensors and various other lateral, force sensors..............

however the 5spd wiring will plug straight into the 6spd box and control the diff in the exact way a Type-R, etc. would work...........

also worth mentioning while were on the subject, the front shafts if you plan to use 100 pcd hubs with the earlier type shafts then you need to fit stubs & different seals in the box, or use the earlier shafts but change the inner joint over from the later type shafts

Ah, very interesting, thanks guys, just gonna be on the look out for the bits now. There's a full 2nd hand kit on fleaBay at the mo but I simply haven't got the cash after buying the Type R.
