Default gearbox/diff oil on 350bhp newage wrx

AS above, looking to get these changed at somepoint soon, will most likely supply a garage myself and get them to change it so I can get the service stamp still.

The cars a daily so wont be driven hard much. But can anyone recommend what would be best suited for the car?
Also how much oil will be needed for the diff and gearbox??

Also wrong section but for sake of starting another thread, how about engine oil?? Its an STi v8 bottom end if that will make any difference?
And how much oil is required for the engine??

Thanks

Oli

this will open a can of worms as it usually does on here-when i got my scoob the 1st thing i did was to go see ollie @ rcm-i knew nothing about these cars so took his word for it

fuch's 15w50 pro r engine oil - big 5L is enough with a little bit left for top ups

genuine black oil filter and new sump washer + gearbox drain washer aswell (just in case)

castrol syntrax oil for the gearbox (4 x 1L is enough i think) the dipstick is underneath the left side of the intercooler

this is the diff oil-1L is all you need

http://www.rogerclarkmotorsport.co.u...productID=2241

i try and buy all my oils off opie when there is a promotion on-if not there is a 10% discount code but i cant remember what it is

hope this helps

I would say a good 5w-40 would probably be the way to go for the engine, unless you are getting high (over 125C) oil temps, then a 10w-50 is the best choice.

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-656-5w-40.aspx
http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-659-10w-50.aspx

Out of those, the best ones are the Fuchs/Silkolene Pro S, Millers CFS/CFS Nanodrive, Motul 300V, Redline and Gulf Competition.

You need a 75w-90 for the gearbox and diff ideally.

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-673-75w-...ion-fluid.aspx

If you want to go for the best, the Millers CRX 75w-90 NT, Gulf Competition, Motul Gear 300, Redline MT90 and Millers TRX are ideal for the gearbox. The Fuchs Syn 5, Millers CRX, Redline 75w-90 GL5, Motul Gear 300 and Gulf Competition are ideal for the diff. The Fuchs Sintopoid, Castrol Syntrax Longlife, Millers TRX, Motul Motylgear, Mobil SHC and Amsoil FGR are also good choices.

Cheers

unsure what kind of temps id be hitting, but doubt id be give the car that much stick to get it up that, high, do have a set of gauges I need to fit at somepoint so will help with that.

well ill go speak to my local garage, they're a Scooby specialist so will probably get them to do the service depending how much they are wanting to charge, I cant see it being much more than £200 even if they supplied the oils probably £250 tops.

With the colder weather approaching id say the 5-40 oil would be a better choice?? help lubrication from cold starts??

a 5w or 10w (even 15w for that matter) will work fine in the UK unless your at the tip of Scotland...................

Yes, it's very good stuff and even though a 10w will be okay for most of the UK, I'd go for a 5w to give it the best cold start protection.

Cheers

when you take the sump plug out it has a sealing washer to fit perfectly against the sump pan..........
