Classic RA gearbox

Classic RA gearbox
It finally happened last night. 5th gear went awol and the rest of the gears sound like a box of spanners. It didnt like the full on320bhp I guess. TY752VB4CA boxes are almost non existent.
A few ideas running around in my head
Replace with another classic non RA box?
Used Type R box (easier to find) will the v2 sti dccd controller work with a Type R box?
Theres a couple of dccd Type R boxes and diffs for sale on Ebay, are these a straight swap? The ratios are a bit taller obviously will need the diff too? Will the RA dccd controllers work with a Type R box?
Another question.... Do all type R's come with a man/auto dccd switch on the center console?
All advice/experiences welcome

You can still buy the bits to repair them but it all depends what has gone wrong I looked into repairing my DCCD box and because it was badly knackered it was easier to buy a 2nd hand box.
No classic came with an Auto setting but they do have the manual roller
As for changing boxes it all depends on what you can afford...personally I would go for 6 speed but not cheap.

Six speed was in the plan too, some people say the low ratio box is one of the features that make driving an RA unique or pain in the ***.
After just finishing a very costly engine rebuild the 6 speed option is way out of my budget
Pretty sure its a standard sti ra diff, will check tomorrow whats the code?

Hi edsel if you have either of these 3 transmission codes you will have a matched 3.9 rear diff.
Ty752vb3ea
Ty752vb4ba
Ty752vb4ca
If you do have what we are after , the codes match and you fancy getting shot, sendd me a pm. Cash waiting. Cheers

Or pick up a non dccd ra box, that's what I did when my type r box stripped 5th gear, a lot cheaper than a dccd box to get you back on the road, Never used the dccd so wasn't a problem swapping box to non dccd.

The box thats just given up was a Ty752vb4ba, the vin plate says it should have a CA so its safe to assume its been changed. The dccd obviously didnt work with BA box. It drove fine till it destroyed 5th gear
It would nice to have a proper working dccd box, non working stuff devalues the car.
