Hi, I'll be buying JDM Spec C and I'm wondering if it's need to be mapped for UK fuel? I've asked seller and I've been told that it's ok to use V-power, but just want to bu sure.
Is it worth to re-map it just for UK fuel or is it better to do some power increase in the same time? Thanks

 

No the car will need mapped or use it with v power and octane booster, but if it was mine id be having it mapped for v power to be on the safe side you will also see a gain in power.

 

As jay says better to map for UK fuel really so you know it's safe. I did this and changed panel filter, plugs, fuel pump and exhaust which made more power too

the only way it would run on vpower is if the ECU pulls timing back when it knocks - the JDM timing is just too high so a remap is needed. You can make it as simple as borrowing the fuel and timing maps from a UK car if you have or have access to an openport cable or the better solution is to find someone like Bob Rawle who will properly map the car for you and get the most from it.

 

thanks guys, it will be mapped by importer so it will be mapped just to run on v power and I don't know how will do it, but probably after few weeks I'll do some upgrades and get it to someone to do a proper remap
