Default New MAF on classic and poor running

Hi all,

I have a MY00 classic. Had the car for over 10yrs. Was advised to change the MAF and Lambda as a precaution as I had never changed these previously. Have just done the MAF and did buy one from eBay. Fitted it and all seemed fine but once once 1/4 throttle it was stuttering and almost misfiring. Refitted original and all was back to normal.
Sent that MAF back and got a refund. Chose another supplier and just fitted that to find the same problem!
Car is running a full decat, K&N, and PPP.

Any thoughts on where to look

Cheers

Steve.

Correct MAF ordered. Confirmed part number with Subaru dealer and cross referenced with my Reg. New part.

Have you reset the ECU since replacing the part?

Have disconnected battery this morning (it's a spare car) and will retry tonight.
Thinking some more, The problem seems more related to throttle position than anything else. Which makes me also think the new MAF is now allowing more fuel and there is a problem with that...?

Will update later

Do a proper reset as disconnecting the battery doesn't always work.

Also it will take around 50 miles for your ecu to relearn the fuel trims so give the car chance to get used to the new maf and O2 sensor

Not many members when I joined..certainly remember the 500 and 1,000 member milestones.
Bought first Scoob in August 97 ! Red UK wagon brand new.

Did the battery disconnect and reset with plugs but still running the same. Seems odd that both new MAF's are showing the same problem.
have a mate looking at this so will report back

Well, sent that MAF back and tried another seller...fitted and got exactly the same thing so sending that back as well..

Have now just fitted a genuine Subaru part and everything is good ! Smooth running restored..

There's a morale in there somewhere but was hoping the genuine one was way over priced and i could get the same quality elsewhere...clearly i couldn't this time around.

I wouldn't use a pattern part for something like the Maf sensor. Even they can come broken from Subaru though as they are quite fragile.

Glad you're sorted.
