Is ecuflash any help at all? Do you know anythinh about ecu flash? Like...does it show bhp? And i currently have high idle, 1500 rpm, ive done all the checks, iacv, tps etc n vac leaks. All i can think of now is something wrong with ecu settings or something as ive read a few threads where people have raised idle speed with ecuflash?! Will ecuflash help with this?

What about evoscan? Throttle body is fine n cleaned, iacv adjusted (divorced type iacv) but as a working valve should, when adjusted it levels itself up. Iacv also been changed for a known working one. Tps too. I read good stuff about evoscan.

On research i guess the only way is with a scoobyecu or unichip. Anyone got one? Are those polar chips remappable? Just asking, i know they have a good map already

No just a generic map.
Could have an after market ecu installed but ultimately the issue needs resolving unless its the ecu fitting an affer market ecu wont fix it but might help identify the issue during installtion

I beg to differ. Here is the link to the cable and details of what cars it supports - http://www.evoscan.com/evoscan-gps-o...ubaru-vehicles

Look for the yellow 9 pin connector under the dash (not a obd connector) as shown in the link.
Evoscan supports the Select Monitor 1 protocol, which will enable you to read and log some data from the ECU on your 95 WRX.

Thats the way i want to try. Ive got the lead but diy like this http://www.alcyone.org.uk/ssm/howto1.doc. im finding it hard to find software that supports pre 1999 though. Evoscan is the only one ive seen that sounds like it works for people.

Surely there must be somethin? Im not questioning the knowledge of you guys on here i totally trust you but if subaru can do it why cant the public?! I have seen the select monitors for sale but there must be programmes like evoscan n evuflash etc that work i guess. Like i say if subaru can do it then why not everyone?! I want to try alcyone but the 2 sites ive found with it to download are either just docs or the other one with exe files doesnt open. I found my ecu with vwxr select monitor but the software is for 1999 onwards. I just want to have a look first n learn abit before i buy evoscan. N also i have a daughterboard on my ecu, i understand these are put on to able an ecu to be reprogrammed n datalogged, is this right? If so then i should be able to do it?
Im not trying to prove you pros wrong or anything i just dont understand how the likes of subaru n garages can do it but i cant. Even if someone explains why then i would be gratefull. If i can or cant then so be it but i just want to understand it a bit more

Its simply not possible to directly map the car through the diags port unless you have the ESL interface installed.
You could log it with that cable and Evoscan to a limited degree. Evoscan is not capable of flashing a Subaru ecu ... which is due to it being "EVO"scan
cheers

Ok cheers. I mainly want to check sensors n sthis too, is evoscan enough for this? What is needed to map n read an ecu myself? New ecu? Software? Need any kind of chip?
