i want my avcs working............how
right ive decided i want my avcs working so i need somebody to point me in the right direction please
car is a 54 plate blob wrx with standard ecu,tgv delete and sti8 engine
can i fit a sti ecu along with a jt innovations loom and thats all? (i know i need a map tweek)
do i need an sti loom aswell?
what do i do about coding my keys?
can i use the keys that come from the same car as the sti ecu?
looking for the most cost effective and easy way possible please

Hi there
I'm not 100% sure, but you will need repin some connectors as WRX have pins on different places like STI(Fuel pump,Immobilizer etc)
STi loom not sure 100%,but if you will repin all those yo shouldn't need STI loom, although STI engine loom should doesn't cost too much(I think they cost around £50)
Cost effective way and easiest way is JDM WRX ECU,this ECU can control AVCS and you will don't need to repin all connectors etc and will cost you less

Its not so easy to do so on the WRX and really would suggest have look on the few conversion over RS25 forum or Nasioc
If you are good in wiring then you go with the STI,if you want easiest way,I would go with JDM WRX ECU,this ECU cost around £100-£150

As I pointed above you will need repin all connectors on the yours existing loom if you want to use STI ECU

JDM STI or Spec C ECU both are basically same there
You will need repin yours existing loom and not sure how cheap or how expensive this can be
Personally I would speak with TimH@JT Innovations and I'm sure he will able to recommend and help you with this
Second option and more expensive option is rip yours existing loom out and put inside STI wiring loom, but still think cheaper on longer run can be buy JDM WRX ECU and wiring loom from JT Innovations
If its budget scratch that and get aftermarket ECU

so the only one that wont need repinning is a jdm wrx ecu? this is proving to be more of a ball-ache than i first thought

Yes this loom is mostly used on cars where you want to retrofit AVCS

That's the main difference between the any STI and JDM WRX ECU,on JDM WRX ECU you will probably need repin few connectors,as I said speak with Tim,maybe he have wiring diagram for JDM WRX ECU and then for sure you will know if something will needs to be repinned

It's not that difficult to do on an STI ecu, If you still have the tgv wiring but are running deletes you can use/run that loom to the ecu and repin it also a few others as Jura says, then it's a matter of adding 3 or 4 others to the ecu from the avcs, It's an easy enough job for a decent mapper to do as you will need a tweak anyway, He should also be able to code the keys for you to

If you are thinking go with aftermarket ECU in later stages, think twice before you are committing to buy ECU
As I said on different threads Syvecs have good resale value and AlcaTek not sure, this ECU not holding value and mainly on the Syvecs everything is enabled(NOS Control,AVCS or LC,ALS,datalogging etc) and on AlcaTek those functions are for extra
In case you will go with Syvecs or AlcaTek this can be maybe on first sight much easier, but still you will need AVCS loom, technically you can use AVCS loom from STI and wire this to the ECU,but AVCS loom from TimH is made very well and support from Tim is great
Mapping both ECU is same and cost similar money.Aftermarket ECU on the high power cars will worth just due better resolution and better control and trip function, standard ECU is good enough for most people, but in most cases I would go with aftermarket ECU
