Default wrx hatch buying advice

Hi guys after two years of fiesta st ownership I have just sold it and looking into my next toy ,all ways liked the hatch shape ,would love an sti but budget will not stretch. but I have seen an wrx 57 plate and an wrx s o8 plate just wondered are they any good or are they to be advoided I read a while ago about the engines are a bit chocolate so ian not sure .this is not my first Scooby as I had a classic in 2009 so it would be nice to have bite of the flat four cherry again thanks .

Not great cars unfortunately. I'd avoid. It is worth stretching to the STI as it is a vastly superior car in every respect. But then you have to budget for a fractured ringland or failed HG.

The WRX hatch engines are not as likely to go bang, though.

The hatch to go for is the 2010 STI model onwards or the Cosworth, IMHO.

If you're after a "flat four" experience I'd go for a widetrack newage car.

Agree, if you can't afford an STi then you are not going to get what you are looking for with a WRX very different cars. Even the STi is pretty tame in standard trim and has the engine issues you are aware of.
