Default Gonna be on first name terms with Essex police soon

Well i got pulled again today by the Essex police when coming back from Xtremes after having a service, my front window tints were too dark , they put a meter on them and they should show at least 45% and mine were 22% where my windscreen was 88%, they gave me a roadworthiness prohibition notice but i took the tints off there & then and so they removed the prohibition notice so no harm done and everybody happy , must admit though they were very friendly and polite didn't hassle me at all

Think i'm gonna have to stay out of Essex for a while though

I don't bother tinting the front now, not worth all that hassle , do look really nice fully tinted though.

Not sure what tints they were apart from they were not limo tints (the darkest), you could see quite easily through them but i've been told anything apart from standard tinted glass will fail this test

Surely Blue Side Lights is not road legal?

If you can't do the time, don't do the crime

In the past I've had illegal tints, and illegal number plates. However, I knew they were dodgy so was ready for a fine as & when.

All Subaru glass is already tinted ( Green ) If you look in the corner of the glass windoow you will see A2 Acid etched onto the glass This means the glass is tinted during manufacture ..

So hence ...

Whatever type film Regardless of light or dark added to a A2 Window will be deemed as illegall

i be honest with you guys, i aint yet been pulled in my wagon, its not as if its parked at home all the time, i drive it everyday, and went to bp garage last night on west road westcliff and watched a police car pull up next to my scooby....the 2 police men got out and started to look my scooby up and down with a smile on there faces . Norma stood there watching them for about 3 mins and then the police just nodded to me and walked away smiling ........ surley i have over tinted front windows and an illegle number plate .

Granby, were you driving down the A130 when you got pulled??
If so this seems to be a bit of a 'hot spot' for this, Whilst waiting for me Steve sat there and watched the police pull the tints off a BMW on the Rolling Road day!!!

I was just coming back from Xtremes and pulling onto the A12 (London bound), they were siting in a layby on the roundabout.

I've never had trouble with tints before even when i was pulled that night coming back from Southend but they were looking out for tinted windows as the police officer had a bloke from the vehicle & operator services agency (VOSA) with him with the proper light meter to check them.

I have no problem with what happened as i knew they were illegal and as i said they were very friendly and polite.

Wasnt told to take them off so leaving them on for now as I like them !!
Colchester are doing a right clamp down on anything illegal so do be careful !!
