Question To Dump or not to Dump? ("Valve" that is)

Is there any real advantage from fitting a dump valve?
Apart from the cool "swoooosh" noise of course.
Your thoughts and experience would be most appreciated.

Brian.

The dump valve releases the presure caused by the turbo thus keeping the turbo spining the same direction meaning that the turbo can spool up quicker. THIS IS A GOOD THING!!!!!

Unless you stray into the other threads, and ask this question, then the purists will slag them off to their back teeth

As Cookie says, you need one if you want a flamer

Definately a good thing Especially as it helps the car pop and bang too

Thanks for the advice so far.

So I should be able to convince the other half (Who drives the car during the week) that a dump valve increases fuel economy, prolongs the life of the turbo and is not just a boy's toy!!!

Sorry dude, i dont know for 100% but im 99% sure its only a matter of time. Im not prepared to take that risk.

Wasnt an issue to have a dustbin sized filter on the cossie cos it runs a MAP sensor. Scoobys different so its having a panel filter instead

It's induction kits that scoobs don't like, particulary fragile on the classic facelift and bugeye, unless you have them remapped and the parameters altered.

I've had a HKS sequential dumpvalve on my scoob for 2 years, and no problem. Well, only problem is that the boost solenoid sticks so a drop of squirty carb cleaner in the pipes sorts it out nicely

And I thought I knew a bit about motors.

All I need to know now is, Where to get a "Kerfuddle Pump Gasket!!!"
Thanks again guys.
I Think the wagon could be making some sweet noise soon.

Bad news!!!
Went to get the rear wheels balanced today. (terrible vibration over 80)
All four tyres scrubbed on inside edges! Camber well off.
New boots all round......
No money left for dump valve.

At least it was a smooth ride home at 120!!!
