Frayz, I havnt re-mapped it yet as the standard Forester map runs at 0.5 bar the liklihood of causing problems are low. The engine is exactly the same as a WRX which would normally have the TD04 fitted. Foresters have a TF035 which is the smallest turbo Subaru provide.

I will be getting the Sleeper re-mapped in the New Year but Mrs Cue will kill me if I spend anymore money before Chrimbo

And yes Ed my thumbprint is visible on my forehead where Debs n money are concerned lol

Okay just a quick question.. why fit a bigger turbo?
Could it be that a bigger turbo flows more air???

So do you not think that a TD04 @ 0.5bar will flow more air than a TF035 @ 0.5 bar?
Boost pressure is the same but from completely different sized compressor wheels. You now have added boost that your car is not fueling for.

If you have a massive grin on your face it means you have gained some power.. where from?

The answer is the extra air the new turbo is now flowing.

Get it mapped mate, or have yourself some shotblasted pistons for christmas.

Everyone thinks im having a dig when i question people over their mods.. The bottom line is i dont matter to me if your car melts a piston or throws a bigend through det.. i aint paying for it..

Just dont like to see people blow up their cars because they dont know whats going on inside it.

Frayz,

without question you are correct, after these kind of mods it really is a daft to not have it mapped, firstly the standard map will almost certainly not be correct for the new parts, which can lead to engine damage, and secondly when it is correctly mapped you then get the maximum gains from the mods .

However Frayz, does the fact that each time you say something like this, you rub people up the wrong way, make you think your approach isn't ideal? even if the content and intention is correct.

Okay so how do you say something informative.. that wont **** people off.

As soon as i say anything factual within the ESC for the genuine help of others i get c*nted off

If someone else reads your thread they automatically think, hey ho.. i can fit a bigger turbo, decat etc and just drive ***** nilly.. full boost etc

When clearly that is not the case.

Im not arguing at all.. like i said i dont like to see people go down the wrong routes through inexperience.

Most people on here dont like me because i tell it how it is and they dont like a 23 year old telling them how to tune their car. I build development engines for a living and have done for 6 years now. Im passing on my experience to help others.

Im not gonna argue with John1uk about computers or with Tiny about windows etc..

Whats peoples problem???.. If you wish i will erase my replys and say no more on the subject..

Tell me how ive rubbed you up the wrong way?

I thought you made a fair point to be honest dude....

Sounds like a nice forrester you have there now man, but id be concerned about it running a bit lean myself, if you cant afford to get it remapped at least get someone to plug it in a wideband lambda sensor to check the air fuel ratio is correct to keep safe for meantime

Stavros I don't very often coment on any of these issues but,and i am trying to be helpfull , I think it's these poxy smiles that are sometimes taken the wrong way .
I have always listened to everyone's opinions and then decide who to take note of .

LOl,

I use the smiles to try and lighten the comments that so many find so apparently offensive lol ..

I find if people use no smiles at all its hard to see in which context the words are written.. or am i wrong?

Tell me if i am mate ?

I agree with you there mate, it can be awkard and very hard to express yourself using smilies, and frequently things are taken the wrong way

Frayz/Timmy Boy

Thanks for the info I'm no mechanic and will definately sort something out quickly. Sorry Mrs Cue the card is about to get smacked

As a non mechanic but am willing to learn.. Apart form blowing the engine how can I tell if everything is OK or not as the case may be?

Thanks

Get a set of det cans on it and a wideband to check the fueling. Some Delta Dash data logging is worth its weight in gold too.

Feel free to take it elsewhere but Zak @ Mocom Racing can check this for you.. if nothing else for the peace of mind.. DO NOT drive it on boost if possible. A few big dets can put holes in pistons and destroy big ends via shock loading in no time at all.

I have a wideband but its intalled in my car, otherwise i would check it for you.

I will try to answer any questions you have mate, or if i cant then i'll find out for you.

Good news mate

Frayz can sometimes come on a little strong with his coments, but when it comes to engines he does know a thing or two...

At the end of the day it'll give you peace of mind, a few months back my car was running a little doggy, took it to Zak to give it the once over, and we found it was detting on lift off, and I had changed nothing since it was mapped earlier in the year by Pat.

Poor fuel can cause the engine to knock a little, so what do you think a turbocharger upgrade could do.....

how about asking nicley when is it going to be mapped rather than stating who mapped it?

some times its just the way you ask

It's a fair question. The answer in this case is "It hasn't been mapped yet" A fair answer.

Why are people getting offended by such a simple, honest question?

If this thread had been posted in the general technical section I bet it would have got the exact same question thrown in from quite a lot of people.

Group hug needed people.

I value everything that is said on here by people who have more knowledge than me about things.
As Frayz said, he wouldn't question John1uk's answers about computers, nor Tiny's on windows,
nor mine on PVC feather Boa's - Did I just say that out loud!

IMHO There is a lot of expertise floating around on here for people to learn from, and everyone has their own way of expression
