I kind of actually agree that a 17 year old passing his/her test should not being able to drive a performance car without proving they are responible....
I know this is hard to police but I wouldn't let my son drive one at that age.
And it would not stop this type of thing happening....
RIP.

The views of the ex-Traffic PC wasn't exactly worded appropriately (but we get a lot of that on here!! ). However, he does have a point.
IMO, there should be a restriction on the type of the vehicles all NEW drivers (regardless of age) should be able to use. If someone wished to use a more powerful car, then they could either take an extended test or perhaps an IAM test.
In any case, I hope the young lady in question will rest in peace, and the family takes some solace from the memories recorded by her friends and relations.
New riders can't go from a 125cc moped to a GSXR 1000 without going via the CBT, therefore, why do we think new car drivers can go from a 995cc Micra to a 300BHP Scoob?

How awful!!! Its very true about one of the comments... a 17yr old cant ride a powerful bike, yet, money no option, could drive any car they wanted!! I think they should encourage more drivers to do "Pass Plus".
Thoughts to the family and friends of the girl.

some truely touching and sad comments on there. Thoughts are with all involved at such a sad time.
Must echo said comments about restricting "new" drivers to power of cars, i have said this for years, when will the goverment realise such an easy solution could help, even though it wont prevent, such awful watse of lifes!!!
