Another day at Calor
I should write a script about Calor like "the Office" and earn myself a fortune!!
Today, Securicor came to the site, loaded up the van, and the driver locked his keys inside the van, for some strange reason, he declined the offer of me getting in the van with oxy-acetelyne!!
One of the operators came up to me moaning that our £1millon bottle painting machine wasn't spraying the gas cylinders, I checked it out and concluded that it would spray a lot better if he actually turned the bloody paint pumps on!!
The same person also moaned to Betts a couple of weeks ago that the paint machine wasn't spraying bottles, it turns out that when he changed the 45 gallon drum, he replaced it with another empty drum! Come on, there isn't much of a weight difference!
Another guy, working on the paint machine was moaning that the machine wasn't taking the cylinders off of the overhead conveyor, it does help if you turn the machine on!
First rule of being a maintenance engineer, always check the simple things first, as they usually forget to pull out emergency stop buttons.
Second rule, no matter how well engineered a machine is, they'll always find a way to break it

Try standing in the middle of Oxford Street with tape across the road keeping back about 300 people, whilst someone is dealing with a 'suspicious' package. You'll always have a bright spark who asks 'Come I come through please'

Funny you should say that, Iwas talking to Elaine yesterday, and she had a new customer call asking how Calor delivers the gas, he thought we POSTED it to them!!! can you imagine a postie delivering propane gas in an envelope!!
My college years:
I used to work for Texas Homecare in Lakeside at weekends while studying Engineering.
One of the guys there was a sandwich short of a picnic, and we persuaded him that the "Fraggles" lived in the warehouse, and the reason why he has never seen them was because they only came out at night.
The same person thought we actually sold tartan paint, but he wouldn't get a tin out for us because it was at the bottom of a pallet full of paint.
The looks on customers faces when they asked to borrow the toilet, and you tell them, sure - as long as you bring it back!!
Not to mention all the skyhooks, and long waits (instead of weights)
