Default Rear Camera (reverse cam) Fitted

For those thinking about fitting a rear reversing camera, heres what i have done.

Bracket is of course custom made and is attached to the vehicle using existing holes and screws which secure the 2 number plate illuminating lights

Therefore a very easy fit, 2 screws removed and then replaced with the bracket fitted.

Although mine is linked to the CarPc, those who have multimedia or DVD players, they normally accept an additional AV input which is suitable for the reversing camera.

If it does then you have to have one of these to go with it.

When I did this :-

They had an Evo on trial @ Chelmsford. They sent it back, more fool them, because of servicing issues. Oil change every two weeks or something I think.

Yeah, remember that one. These still need servicing every 4500 miles, but they are generally well looked after as we only have 2.

Think their concern was it would spend too much time in the garage & not on the road. Bit heavy on their MT budget as well.

As per Usual, another top quality installation Steve

How does it interface with the carPC? USB or video capture card?

I've emailed the supplier to see what i can get a few of them for. I reckon i can get them for around £40 each, does this sound about right for people ?

They are great units with infra-red capabilites for low light level etc.

I'll let you know.

When you say "screens" what are you thinking ? Because generally its not too cheap. Do you mean a screen just to show whats on the camera, DVD option or full blown Pc ?

Forgot to update, i now have a couple of these cameras available (same as I have fitted above) if people are interested?

Excellent addition if you have a DVD player upfront which allows reverse camera input, why not make the most of it.

I managed to get a good price on them and they are £45 and i have made a load of mounting brackets ready which is included at that price. Or £40 just for the cameras.

Similar suppliers charge £65> just for the cameras i have found which are the round stlyle with glass lenses. Mine broke whilst trying to install it. These have plastic lenses at the front and also 6 infrared LEDs which automatically switch on when the lux levels (light) fall for night time reversing

Hopefully as you can see by the above pictures are they reasonably descrete.
