Default Time to go

Just thought I'd write my last post.

I've had a very bad time of it in the last year, things going **** up, and had no choice but to sell the Scoob to keep afloat. Things are getting better in some respects, but not in others.

My main problem is my conscience, as you know Scoob_DC's car caught fire a while back, the problem was found to be the oil pressure adapter I made and installed, I didn't tighten the gland up so oil leaked out, and caught light on the exhaust manifold, so in short I fcuked up big time, and I still feel incredibly bad about it even after this time. And I can't apologise enough to Dave.

I've got no confidence on working on cars now, and have even neglected doing a few simple jobs on the Golf, not to mention the kitcar is still sitting in the garage untouched.

Sorry, just need to get this off my chest as it bothers me so much.

Paul DON'T Go mate. you Will regret it mate. We all make mistakes sometimes in our life, Mine being born Just because a mistake was made don't mean The ESc and its members don't care about you mate. I think your a great guy, down to earth person, maybes a little shy, but who cares. I hope you don't leave mate as you will be missed, but whatever you do is your choice mate.

I'm glad things are picking up for you mate. Most of us go through some sort of bad patch in our lives, we just have to keep our heads up and trudge on.

Chin up mate.

Couldn't agree more with this - life can seem a bit of a bummer at time, but someone said to me a long time ago when I was going through a bad patch "the only losers are the quitters" - and you 'ain't a quitter, so take a deep breath (take a holiday.....) and you will find life will move on and get better.

Paul we wouldn't be human if we didn't make mistakes mate. We would be robots. I defy anyone on here to say they have never messed up big time at some time in their life. (The Boss excluded. ) But we learn from our mistakes & move on.

That's what makes life what it is. Highs & lows. Without one you can't appreciate the other. I know it's a cliche but time is a great healer. I reached a point some time back, before I met Jess, when my world seemed at an end with not much of a future. But you hang in there & things do get better.

Chin up mate we are all here for you.

Paul,

I'm really sorry to see you feel like this, I can honestly say what happened to my car was an accident albeit an unfortunate one.

I watched your every move when you was fitting the gauges and was thinking and in fact have said after the event what a tidy exact job you was doing.

So the pipe leaked, it could have happened to anyone at any time it could have been a dodgy connection faulty piece of pipe anything so you cannot definitely say it was you not tightening stuff up enough.

You fitted my whole exhaust system and that is still on

Look at all the other stuff you have done for many of the other people on here has there been any problems with all of that?

What happened, happened for a reason. My car is back better than ever and as far as I am concerned it is a done deal. I would have you work on my car again tomorrow if I needed anything done so stop beating yourself up about it.

I purposely didn't make a big thing on here about my car because I didn't want to mention that you done the work and it didn't matter to anyone else apart from me and you. It's probably only now that many of the ESC now know what actually happened to my car.

I can't tell you what to do but I do suggest that you try to put this in the past as that's where it needs to be and get back into doing what your good at and enjoy doing.

I am happy to talk if you need to

Cheers David

Who else on here will we be able to call at a time of need, and know that they are going to get the help they need.
Ok, so there are a lot of really helpful people on here, who will of course help us out when in need.............but whenever I had any technical questions nearly everyone on here always said, ask Cornelius..............that must say a lot as to your value to us all.

Don't be a stranger, if you don't want to work on cars that is your decision, but there is no reason to leave us all. You can still sit behind the pc and have a chat, and pop along to a meet sometime. Most peple would come and offer you a lift, i am only round the corner if you ever need a lift.

Paul,
You have always done a first class job on my car, and I would NEVER think twice about having you work on my car again.
Mistakes are made by everyone.
Dazza will testify, I managed to knock out an entire business's electricity supply by one "well aimed" drilled hole. I felt devestated at the time and was willing just to walk away, but the companies MD told me to forget it, accidents happen.
The company also paid for an electrician to come in and sort my mess out!

Paul, IMHO you are one of the most respected people within the ESC, and I'm sure you going will make a lot of people unhappy - me included.

Respect

Andy

Does this mean your going to stay around?

As I don't fancy taking up the role of the ESC cross dresser

I suppose I had better, after all

1. I promised Bibo for his first 'Ring trip
2. I promised MNeame the first Knock display
3. I've got to go to Wozzaa's for that coffee
and before anyone starts, no one else in the ESC can pull off crossdressing as well as I do, and many people on here still rely on my make-up tips

I've been offered a R33 Skyline and a 400BHP RX-7 in the last week, went for a ride in the Rex and it's something else, the acceleration and raw power took my breath away, something I never experienced in a Scoob, I've been in a few quick cars, but nothing compares to that RX-7, it took me back to 1989 when my uncle bought a brand new Toyota Supra, had it chipped and took me for a mind blowingly fast ride.

It's not over 'til the fat lady sings, and by the sounds of it, she hasn't started her singing lessons

Thanks mate, glad you're still having fun with it

I'm not going to make the oil pressure adaptors anymore, Le-mans do them for around £15 and are easily available.
The oil temperature adaptor isn't a problem as the engine bung is retapped with a 1/8NPT thread (unless you have Defi gauges which don't need the extra work)

I will get round to finishing and testing my knock sensor display, just got an issue with voltage at the mo, but once that's done, no problemo
