Unhappy water ingress in boot !!!

I have a 93 wrx and went to change a bulb in rear light (drivers side boot cubby hole), and it appears to have about half inch of water at the bottom...does anyone know if there is a drain hole or plug that can become blocked in that area?

Cheers,
nev69

i think it's more a case of the seal around the light can leak. best to get the unit out and double check.

I think this is a standard no cost extra on the classics Free Goldfish bowl in the spare wheel well, most of them seem to leak around the rear lights

when you put it back in put a smear of silcone sealant around the seal

could also be the spoiler bolt holes.

Just checked again, and I now have a lake in the boot, it looks like some dodgy welding as I can see water stains and water running down from the weld !, would silicone sealant on the weld do or does it need re welding ??
any one got some scuba driving gear as I will need it if it keeps raining !

I don't think I've fitted a flamer to a classic that didn't have a fish pond in the boot

wagons seem ok ....

silcone as a temp measure but weld for permanent. water and metal usually means rust so get it sorted out

no pond in my boot. just the one in my garden

and speaking of flamers will be wanting one soon. well after payday so no rush dazza said mine was flaming last night anyway and that's with no kit and a recirc dv, so can;t wait to see what it'll do with a kit and vta

My 95 wrx had this problem on both sides and the spare wheel well. I must have spooned out about 5 litres of water that had been sloshing around all winter. I thought it could be my new light clusters but on inspection, my lights were well sealed but I found what looked like condensation on the underside of the boot lid. It turned out to be the boot spoiler mounting holes leaking from my new version 6 spolier. Simply unbolting from the underside of the boot lid, lifting it up and running silicone round the bolts and nuts and then refitting them sorted it. Dry as a bone and no problems at all since then!!!

an easy way to get the water out is to drill a hole in the spare wheel well and then buy a rubber grommit from halfords. this way if it does fill up again in future you can just pull the grommit out

The water has just started to overflow into the main boot area, so moped it up and packed out the cubby hole with sponges to suck up the water for now. Need to get it welded but struggling to find a place to do it ! any ideas ?, local to Chelmsford.

ABW all day long...them boys know a thing or 2 about scoobs as well

also must add i have known various classic drivers with a smiliar problem, albeit not as bad, and came to the conclusion it must be a standard issue on classics.
