Hi every one, i don't actually have a subaru but i would like to put something on here, not sure if im doing it right.! or got the Right club just wanted to bring it to peoples attention.
But on saturday night I was travelling down the A127 to get to Southend hospital with my wife in labour desperate to get to the hospital before my son was born, unfortunately i was stuck behind a group of subarus going about 40mph in a 70mph zone, i did not see the need for them to be going that slow on an dual carraige way as i believe that the minimum is 55mph traffic permitting and i didn't hear of any accidents or holds ups on there, As for being stuck behind for so long i had to pull into the lay by because my wife was giving birth to my beatiful son. Luckily there was not any complications and they are both fine but if the subaru drivers were doing the speed limits my son would have been born where he was meant to be. Just maybe a thing to think about, yes theyre great cars to show off but a pain when using both lanes and going 40mph.
Many Thanks Clive.

Hi Clive.
If you are talking about Saturday 3 November I am surprised you had a problem with traffic on the A127. We had a very poor turnout of cars due to many owners being at firework parties or being down Southend seafront early for their display.
As there were so few cars we stayed in the inside lane for most of the way down & had to overtake some slower moving traffic on three or four occasions. The traffic was very light in both directions.
I was towards the front & we were averaging 55-60 most of the way & quite a bit more than that under the underpass. The majority of time spent in two lanes was once we were in the 40 limit & all the traffic was bunched up.
We have a policy of letting cars through where ever possible if traffic conditions allow. But like i said most of the time we were in one lane except when we overtook slower vehicles or were in the 40 limit.
If you were held up in any way did you flash your lights or sound your horn? We carry two way radios & no one reported any vehicle having a problem getting through.
What vehicle were you driving? I will make further enquiries to people that would have been further back & would have seen you.
Did you call an ambulance to attend once you had stopped in the lay by?
Mark

although the posers convoy is a bit of an institution it is actually rather dangerous. I've been out of the subaru scene for well over a year and that has given me a different perspective on things I used to do. The 40mph down the 127 is a pi55 take really. It's not so bad if it was confined to just one lane but to occupy both is madness and it is was only a matter of time before something like this happened.
Perhaps time to rethink this portion of the event.
People can call my a hypocrite if they want but I don't do meets any more so feel able to make a comment.
For someone to give birth in a layby because of the event is an absolute crime and we should all be ashamed of ourselves for being selfish and arogant enough to allow something like this to happen.
Obviousely my best wishes are extended to clive and his new family as well as apologies for having to endure what must have been a traumatic event.

Even if this is a wind up and I hope not....
We always..... let people through..... As far as I've known, most people always look for non-subaru traffic at all times and always pull over as required....
If this did happen, I'd like to think it was by mistake or a no so experienced driver....?
I personally would have full beemed and sounded my horn to alert the offending driver?
If this is true, I hope all is well

we cant win can we, Subaru drivers are tarred with the brush that we're all drug dealers and drive too fast, now drivign too slow is added to the list!!!
I wasnt there on Saturday personally but from past attendances I have never known the convoy to drive at that sort of pace unless traffic caused it.
Am sorry to hear that your wife had to give birth in this way but congratulations to you both on your baby son.

Clive IF this is not a wind up please PM me your details and I will arrange some flowers for your wife and Baby as a token apology
I must say though these runs have been impecably behaved over the years and find it hard to understand how it could of happened

Hypocrite
You talk complete crap most of the time and it's nice to see you're consistant with this load of rubbish.
Gangsta, you should alter your post to "I do not attend any meets so I should not comment!"
As Mark has indicated, these runs happen only once per month and are marshalled with radios to an impeccable standard which if anything are an example to other clubs. I have no doubt what so ever if anybody needed to get pass they would be given the opportunity wherever possible and safe to do so.
As one who is known for the occasional wind up I so hope this is not the case. Clive, I have kids and it's fair to say this is one of the most stressful but beautiful moments you'll ever know. I hope all three of you are doing well congratulations.

as this thread is a serious one I will refrain from telling you what I think about you supercue. However I'm half your age and don't need to use assumed aliases to get my posts up due to being banned for littering the forum with childish and useless posts.
Nuff said really.

Congratulations Clive....
Sorry to hear about the predicament you were in (i was not ther either) but as Bibo said, we are "very" considerate to other road users, and only slow down for a quick blat through the underpass.
glad to hear wifey and kiddy are both well, and as Phil says, sorry and i'm sure amends can be made.
all the best !!

Is this for real???
As for Basildon being closer I've got 3 kids and the first two i flatly refused to have in Basildon (despite living there) - the third however, had to be there due to medical reasons! So even if basildon was closer LOL - full respect for going elsewhere!
Congrats on the baby
Although I think personally that had it of been ME in labour - Gooner would've got by 100 scoobies if needed! And I recall him saying there wasn't many on Saturday!
