They don't touch them because they don't know a thing about Apexi's, When I fitted one to my old Scoob, they said they didn't have the gear to map Apexi's.

No, they're not crap, maybe a little basic compared to some aftermarket ECU's but are a good ECU.

Talk to someone who knows about the FC's - Zak

Both mine and Essexboy30's sucsessfully use Apexi ECU's, however they are not as sophisticated as the std ECU.

Mine was changed as the engine spec exceeds what the std ECU could deal with.

The standard ECU has various safeguards, such as when it senses a lower grade fuel is being used it backs of the 'map', hence people 'resetting' the ecu to take it back to full power.

Also the idle control is not a precise.

Bottom line, if your cars ECU can be mapped, then that is the route to go.
However if you ECU cannot be mapped or your mod's exceed what the ECU can deal with then, then the Apexi is a perfectly aceptable way to go.

For a full answer, give Zak a call at Mocom Racing.
