You better buy 2. One to play with and one as a spare. Don't lose the receipt either

When Gran Tursimo 5 is released I'll be getting a PS3, Forza is good but not as good as previous Gran Tursimos in my view.

Its worth taking a look at Electrical Appliances | EmpireDirect.co.uk ...electrically unbeatable I just ordered a 47" philips ambilight, 1080p hd ready bla bla. On the philips website its £2200, in currys it was £1700, these guys had it for £1350, pay another £30 and you get 3 years warrenty.

Play online with my mates who all have the xbox, buy old game titles online for it, much better gaming choice, bigger hard drive, looks better, smaller console.

Everyone i know/have spoken to who have both say the xbox is better or that they prefer the xbox.

I have to agree at the moment there are just to few big titles out on the PS3.

I've got access to both and I must admit at the moment the Xbox wins for me, the PS3 does have the advantage of the Blue Ray player, but that appears to be it so far...

Fair enough mate. I can't be arsed to get into another PS3 Vs Xbox debate and give a load of facts and figures about them so I wont.

I don't think you will be disappointed with either of them to be honest, both do great stuff, go with what ever you will be happiest with and suits your needs. After weighing them up and doing comparisons the PS3 won it for me

Although everyone on here are XBox fanboys so I'll run away and hide and leave you all to it before I get a slagging for getting a PS3!

Like i said mate, ive always always been a playstation fan... so its taken alot to sway me away.

Out of interest, what are your reasons for prefering the PS3 over the 360?

When playing online I suppose the decider is what most of your mates have, so you can play along, when I got mine the PS3 wasn't out, and I had no intention of playing online.

Don't get me wrong the PS3 is a great bit of kit, but due to the lack of big titles it doesn't have the attraction at the moment....

Wireless is at a cost, you have to buy the 60GB version, which you also need to be able to play legacy PS2 games

Don't get me wrong the PS3 is still great value, if for the BlueRay alone

That is one of the big factors for most at the moment. If all your mates have got Xbox's then you may as well get one to join them online.

There are loads of new big titles due for release in 2008 for the PS3. At least 20+ of those will be PS3 exclusive (allegedly ).

Out of interest, what are your reasons for prefering the PS3 over the 360?
As with you, I have always been a Sony man anyway and have had the original Playstation, the PS2 and the PSP. There are a few games on the PS2 that I still play and a few that the Missus likes (Singstar and Buzz etc.) and so rather than having to have 2 consoles under the TV the PS3 is backward compatible (as I got the 60GB version) so I can still use those games plus the new stuff all on the one console.

5 of my mates all bought PS3's at the same time so it was a big factor in what I was looking for especially when it comes to online gaming. In fact this was probably one of the biggest deciding factors and the only real hurdle that made me consider an Xbox over the PS3 due to the amount of ESC that go online.

Current games on the market are reputedly only using somewhere in the region of 30% of the capability of the machine so the future is bright.

Cost wise, so many people say the PS3 is vastly more expensive than the Xbox, however, after pricing them both up to a similar spec (inc. wireless and online ready etc. ) there wasn't alot in it to be honest.

Bluray is simply amazing. Although it wasn't a major factor in me buying it, it seems it may have been a good buy anyway with the popularity of Bluray growing rapidly. Especially with the new signing by Warner Bros (inc. movies, TV boxsets etc.) that all future releases will be on Bluray only it seems Bluray may well beat HDDVD as the future format.

Reliability of the Xbox seemed a big factor too. So many seem to die (RROD) . Have a look just here on scoobynet and you will find some folk on their 6th or 7th Xbox in 2 years. That to me just seems unacceptable and would frustrate the hell out of me having to keep parcel it up, send it away, wait up to 3 weeks and then try again. It seems to be almost acceptable now and people even go out and buy another one while the original one is being repaired to help Microsofts sales figures!
