Which Springs?
I have a MY99 and I'm looking to lower it. I don't want to go for coil overs but was just looking to lower to increase handling performance.
I'm not sure how low to go as I don't want to bottom out on speed humps but as said, I do want to increase the handling.
How low should I go? 20-25mm or 30-35 (i've seen both and don't know which would be the best set-up)

LOL - if you actually read the thread on the driver training day - you'll see that I did ask to come along - however, I think it was "boys" only as my request went un-answered!!! Maybe they were scared of being "whopped" by a girl!!!!!

I've had both....
Eibachs are great and there's a place in Witham called ESP Design (I think) that do them for £120 incl. VAT.
They firm up the ride a little and offer a smooth experience. BUT, even though they say they lower by 25mm, it's normally about 10mm when you take sagging old springs into account...... (these were on std wrx struts)
I currently have Teins.... they lower the car more and are harder than the Eibachs (but I'am running STI Pink Showa struts). I'd say they are not a smooth as the Eibachs, but I'm thinking they would suit your purpose more?
What you could consider also is upgrading the complete system to a good set of used STI stuts and springs? if you take into account labour costs of changing springs, this might be worth looking into?
Oh and finally... don't forgot to budget for the aligment

Is it handling or lowering your after ?
Handling then get your geo checked first Xtreme, Mocom or Elite can do this
if its lowering and handling then any of the springs mentioned above can do that but as said the geo will need doing as well

Lowering the car aside, what is it you want from the chassis?
What do you feel let's it down at the minute?
What tyres do are you running at present?
Road use only?
Current mileage?
Aftermarket springs are very very similar, whether it's Eibach, Prodrive, Tein or Whiteline - they are all progressively wound in an attempt to retain low speed comfort and they are all rated very closely.
Some will however lower the car more than others; lowering an Impreza increases it's bumpsteer which is not a good thing so if you do decide to go with let's say the Teins or Whiteline Flatout springs you will need this addressed. Some will drive around for years none the wiser because the new found firmness from the suspension leads them to believe their car handles better.
Any good alignment specialist should be able to measure your bumpsteer.
Whiteline Control springs tend to lower the car around 10-15mm and are as low as I would want to go without compromising elsewhere.

Stop tempting me. You know I would love to have one but at the moment I would rather spend the money on mine
