Bit of a mixed review..... Started off as an "oh dear" review, then he played with the traction controls and it went better, then stuck it on the wet (which spolied the review a bit in my eyes) but didn't end up raving about it - at least the hobbit said something relevant about 25k for a family car that can do 0-60 in under 5 secs which rescued it a bit.....

of course subaru will now scrap the entire car and re-design their entire brand because tiff needel put the car into a fully locked diff mode and took it around a ****ty little wet go kart track. mugs who base their car decisions on somebody else driving a car should not have the cash to buy a car in the first place. Enter the sheep debate

Drove one last week
Have to say I wasn't as impressed as I had hoped to be
But it was a demonstrator and it wasn't as spirited as Tiff I am going to wait to see what Prodrive are going to be coming up with

I noticed how you didn't respond to all of my question
Agreed the new car has awesome performance for something that is relatively cheap. Most cars with that sort of 0-60 time, top end speed and road holding would easily start at 100k, probably a whole lot more.
However, a lot of the debate on here relates to how the car looks. If the new model had been the new Nissan GTR/Evo 10 or anything of that ilk, it would have been crucified with most people (no doubt including you) thinking 'WTF??' There would have been numerous threads saying what a disaster the new car looks, just like there is for the new model.
The fact of the matter is that it has WRX STi on the back clouds SOME peoples judgement and in their eyes Subaru can do no wrong. I think most people remember how the Bugeye was received after it replaced the Classic. Funny how within a few months the most popular upgrde was the Morretti's (SP??) and within 18 months it had been superceded by the Blobeye. I truly believe its a case of the Emperors new clothes and that in time most people will see it for what it is. A good, budget, performance car with questionable looks.
I know you'll enjoy driving, probably to within an inch of its life. Having seen you at Brands I know you're a reasonable driver and that, where appropriate, you'll take the car to its limits.
But please don't say everyone is being a sheep when they criticise the looks. I think what you did to the WR1 really enhanced its looks (except for the incident with the kerb ). Some people may have thought the mods were a bit OTT.
Horses for courses really.
Enjoy the car and remember to stay safe

are you basing your comment on ownership of a wr1 and a new sti or just the short test drive you had??? if it's the latter you really can't make a valid comment because i owned a wr1 for two years and drove it in all conditions ... whereas you have not.

I personally like the look of the new car .. however the selling point for me was the drive and how it felt compared to my wr1. I saw the mule ages ago and posted up even then that i loved the look. so I'm being consistent
