Oh what a Night
My dog went into labour last night - sadly though after a fewhours of panting and clawing my sofa - I had to call a vet for a cesearean!!!
Got her to the vet this morning about 1.30, to be met with a very unhappy vet, who was having a feel of her very swollen stomach - then she calmly said "are you sure she's pregnant" - i was dumbfounded!!!
Here was my dog - who looks very similar to a boxer, her belly was alive with activity and she looked very similar to a cow!!! Was I sure she was pregnant
Anyhow, they called me this morning at 3.30am to tell me that she has delivered a whopping TEN puppies!!!! (Was she pregnant ) all were alive and well and we can collect her at 10am this morning!
I'm shattered having only had 3 hours sleep - but can't wait to see the new editions! Photo's to follow.................

LOL - not sure whether I'm more shocked at the amount of pup's she's had - or dumbfounded by the vets questions of "are you sure she's pregnant"???
Still, I'm so excited about going to get them!

Just been to the vet to pick them up! the mum is a American Bulldog cross Neopolitan Mastif and the Dad is yes Yvette, Dogue de Bordeaux.
The puppies are HUGE! Sadly though they need to be hand reared as so far the pups have taken all the goodness out of mum and she is very weak and underweight!
So, 10 pup's, need feeding every 2 hours!!!! along with Mum who needs complete care in addition to my three kids and home!
Anyone got experience and wanna share puppy rearing!
Pics will follow later today I hope. A close friend is rearing them for me today and poss overnight.

Update:
ALL puppies are doing really well and its a credit to my pals who are rearing them and feeding them 2 hourly as all of them are feeding and gaining well - usually with a litter this large (10), its common to lose a couple with the bitch usually lying on them or infection setting in - but so far, so good.
I think we'll be selling them for around the £350 marker. All of the crossed breeds are large breeds so they will be quite big dogs being predominantly of the mastiff breed (Neopolitan Mastiff/French Mastiff/American Bulldog) - to anyone who is interested in a pup - mum and dad can be seen, dad is pedigree French Mastiff and mum is the American Bulldog/Neo - both are family pets and around children all the time and are fantastic in temprament.
More pics will follow when they have their eyes open which should be toward the end of next week!

Bad news in Camp Pup I'm afraid.
Lost two of the babies last night, apparently they just wouldn't feed despite the best efforts of those around - using syringes didn't help and so sadly we are now down to 8!

Quite gutting really - just spoke to my pals again and sadly another one has died and there is a fourth that is looking very weak and we're not holding out much hope for him either! The ones that are feeding are very strong at the moment and are still on bottles as opposed to syringe - so fingers crossed, the rest will be OK

Another Update
Another update and more bad news - we are now down to five. I guess you never really contemplate the "down-side" to puppies!!
However, the five we have left (4 boys and 1 girl) are all feeding very well and seem to be quite strong. Fingers crossed though as we're not yet out of the woods!
