with power comes gearbox?
im planning to put lots of power through my 99wrx but every1 keeps tellin me to watch the gearbox how do i upgrade it an is it going to cost a lot im a cheapskate you see lol im thinking second hand so has any1 been there done that b4

You cant expect big power and torque and not have to uprate further componenets.
The cheapest way youre going to get a strong box is to find an STI 6 speed box (6MT). Bare in mind the 6 speed is heavier than that of the 5 speed. Dont expect change from a grand for one though. Plus fitting.
Your other options are a PPG gearset or dogbox, but these will be over 3 grand at best.
Do it properly or dont bother.

Stock 5 speed boxes range from their reliability from sub 300bhp to over 400bhp.
Its a matter of time and useage as to when they will finally throw their toys out of the pram.
Id say about 340/340 is about as close to the edge as id want to be pushing the 5 speed. If you go further, be aware that the clock is ticking rapidly as to when it will **** itself.

lol unfortunately i dont have the money the social life beccons iv tried living off of bread and water didnt work iv tried not going out people call me and annoy me till i do and iv tried sleeping in a garage with the car its just too cold im just not cut out for saving money

lol i work for my dad he holds the reins seeing as im 19 and he dosent share my passion shall we say for motorsports im pretty restricted thus far

hes coming around though b4 i bought the scoob iv been devoted to my mx5 drift car project iv taken him out sideways in that a few times and put a smile on his face
