. . . . . The Annual ESC Day trip to Brighton - Sunday 15th June 2008 . . .
The annual cruise to Brighton is due again on the 15th June this year. This is Fathers day and a great family day out.
To anyone who hasn't been before we meet up at Lakeside services as normal then have a slow steady cruise down to Pease Pottage services where we meet up with the Sussex Scooby Crew.
They then lead us across Devils Dyke and into Brighton where we park up and then stroll along the pier and have a great family day out.
Photo's of last years event can be found Here
22 Cars from the ESC set off in style last year, can we beat that amount this year.
If you only make one meet this year then make it this one

Just want to put my bit in here as someone who has some experience of this event....
As someone who is an ex-racing cyclist and who has done this trip with my old club many, many times in the past, the last thing any cyclist on this trip wants is any car going any where near them....
Most of the riders are non cyclists raising funds for various charities and TBH, a fair number of them can hardly ride in a straight line, let alone keep onto the left side of the road.....
It was being planned that some of their route will be closed to cars which is good in one way, but does mean that diversions would be in place for cars/buses etc. Not sure if that proposal is in place for this years event, but in my experience it's the right thing to do. The St John Ambulance bridgade are in full use on this trip, take it from me!
The amount of money that this one bike ride raises for charity vastly exceeds ALL the money we raise over an entire year of fund raising, so in my eyes they really do have the upper hand on this and we shouldn't be moaning about it....
We can easily re-arrange a scooby drive down there, whereas the organisers of this bike ride have to spend a whole year arranging it and getting permissions, etc, so it's not that easy for them to change anything.
Brighton itself will be rammed so full of bikers, any cars that do try to go there will have an almighty job just to get in and out of the town - and then don't forget that a large number of them will also want to ride BACK to London, often using a different route than the one they took to go there and that will jam those roads up as well.....
Just wanted to put across a different perspective on this than just the "our drive to Brighton trip has been ruined" opinions.....

Didn't mean to imply you did!
Just wanted to try and give people a bit of an insight in the "other" side of the event. Just gone back through my old diaries and I was riding this with my old cycling club for the first 8 years of it's existance, can't find anything after that, but I'm sure I did a lot more than 8 of them!
Wouldn't even attempt it now.....
