Depends on what power you ae looking to go for as well, also depends if you like the wirling noise from a straight cut or the quiet STI8 6 speed!

Bear in mind, that if you change the spec of the gearbox, you'll almost certainly have to change diffs too.

(just been looking into this myself, and decided it was a tad expensive, so just getting a rebuild done)

Then an STI8 would be ideal, but at £2.5k (used) they are expensive. When mine was done the prop shaft was shortened and balanced, this was done by a company in rayleigh!

In my other RB5 I have a uk 5 speed, When the box went I got hold of a 1-4 straight cut kit and 5th gear was left as it was. Got the box out myself (save labor) and sent the box and kit to A&M's in enfield to have built.

I think I paid around £1200 for the kit and rebuild, they done a ok job but there is a company near the bell pub in southend that re built my friends P1 box and he is running a estimated 400BHP (from david at API), his box is holding together and they done a excellent job!

Its maybe worth giving the experts a call/Email (Mocom/Zen) to enquire about costs and the best route to take as I am no expert and the above is only what I was recommended to do by the experts.

But its all about money and time you have!
