about time they made canvey way a dual carriageway, it backs up along the a13 every night. What it needs is the traffic flow slit so no-one can overtake on the wrong side OR do U turns. This is/was the biggest cause of accidents there.

I think that the camera's on Canvey Way will actually be a good thing stop fools from overtaking...
Lets hope that the layby's continue to stay shut also - which stops people doing U turns..

Cuckoo corner tho sounds like it will be a bit of a cuck up !!!

Canvey Way has always been a nightmare, but then that's because it should be a dual carriageway to cope with the rush hour traffic and everyone trying to escape from the island

Cuckoo Corner, the name says it all really, they've obviously all gone cuckoo!!! SEVEN sets of lights is just mental! The roads aren't suitable for that much traffic, changing a roundabout into a traffic light hell isn't going to help that

think i know where it is. turn right and you go down to the SUFC? There was always bad accidents there. But i can't see how 7 sets of traffic lights would help?

News to me Matt I've never seen or heard of a bad crash here

Now Canvey Way, only last night as I was escaping sorry leaving Canvey the traffic was backed up almost to the laybys

Must be hell to commute/live on CI

Cuckoo Corner is probably the junction i dread most if i'm coming from Shoebury direction, the tree huggers have ensured that the single carriageway behind Priory Park is just totally inadequate for the volume of traffic. But i bet a raft of traffic lights will just make the junction from every other direction just as much of a nightmare. Brilliant.

Saw the remnants of a couple of nasty ones when i was a kid. My Nan lives just around the corner from Nate and we went down there every Friday night. That's the reason why they put the filter lane in when travelling down from the footy ground.

When i've travelled along there i've had people cutting into the filter lane when they're heading from Priory Crescent.

For getting off CI cheat and cut through Benfleet

TBH Tel I avoid it like the plague at busy times but as much as I like the Oak Trees the sheer volume of traffic in this town means that drastic measures are required. Unfortunatley 7 sets of lights is hardly going to ease the congestion.

re canvey way - prob a good idea. As for overtaking, i've
been undertaken (on the grass verge!!) by a bmw (no
surprise there ) He undertook about 30 cars (before
the trees were planted) on the way onto Canvey one
evening.
Best way to solve the problem would be to build the link
road to the manorway from Charfleets.
Be interesting to see if the changes at Sadlers make
any diffeence.

re cuckoo corner - removing the trees from priory
crescent and dualing will make no difference, nor will
traffic lights. The queues are due to too much traffic.
Any of these changes may speed the traffic up a bit,
but the traffic is usually solid to The Bell and to Sutton
road. Problem will only be moved a few yards.
Only solution to this is the bypass to Rochford and on to
Sutton road at Temple Farm and Thorpe Bay.

How about finding a way to encourage people to work
closer to home? eg school teachers, office workers etc
many travel one way whilst others go the other way.

How about stopping all the school runs? More school
busses to pick everyone up, - roads would be a lot
clearer.

just my 2p worth

Nate, you are correct about co2 absorbtion
& production of oxygen. Young trees are much
better at this. This is why recycled white paper
is less environmentally friendly than new paper
made from trees planted for the purpose.

HOWEVER, on the basis that trees can be cut down
because they are old and non productive, I would
hate to see this set as a precedent as the
government may transfer this across to people
aged over say 60 as they could be deemed to
be non productive as well.

I for one want to be around a bit longer than that
