Default ESC a bit Gestapo'esque' ?

Seems you can't say anything in here recently, whether it is a valid question or not without it being vaped or topics closed.

Is it me just feeling this way ?

When a valued contributor to the Car Care section is told he is not welcome to post as previously done in the past (unless of course they want to pay a lot of money per month) it is a sad sad day

Do remember though that the mods (ie Tiny I guess) are playing by rules set out by the owners. It might seem OTT but maybe just maybe the place will be better without the idiots causing trouble. It probably seems worse in the ESC section as generally I only see lighthearted banter which has been vaped so we think its OTT. Some of the other sections of SNET have had problems & rules must be governed across the board.

Just my opinion of course

I am going to defend Scoobynet here and its not a dig at Matt either

There are advertisers who pay good money to advertise on the forums lets use ABW for instance

Now lets give you several senarios

1. I come on and sing the praises of ADC Bodywork - Mods will take no action
2. ADC Post about there services - Mods will delete
3. Someone asks a question re bodywork - ADC answers question but doesn't offer their services - Mods will take no action
4. ADC have the user name as ADC - Mods will delete User

Now the most common response from companies like ADC would be we are a new company and can't afford to pay Scoobynet's rates. WELL THEN I AM AFRAID ITS TOUGH

The Car Care section is a difficult one as people as genuinly interested in all the details done by various people but IS IT FAIR THEY GET THE EXPOSURE AND BUSINESS LIKE THE PAYING PEOPLE of course if the customer is happy THEY could post i.e. Matt did the SIDC Unit and I posted details NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT

I hope you see where I am coming from as I am not always the first to defend Scoobynet Mods

I gotta agree with you Phil, Matt knows the score - it's not the first time he's been told off and it won't be the last

A Valid point , But as Phil has just mentioned above you have to look from the the paying advertisers view , If not still politically correct , I do not agree with what they have done to Matt's posts/ threads but the rules have to be followed & decisions made & accepted

Yes i mod this section nearly everyday day 99% of my moderating go's un noticed , Though there is one user who doesn't miss to much

Yes i have a set of rules to follow , Yes i have to use alot of discretion & let posts / Threads go that others mod would delete , Indeed it is a very fine line to tread , Especially within the ESC Were we all thrive on the banter me especially !!

In this instance regarding Pezza , i felt that some of the posts were just a little insulting & i was just trying to protect the user , Same may agree with my decision some may not , Same with other deleted posts , Locked threads etc ...

You can't win them all , Ok if i got it wrong then so be it , After all just remember ...

It's just a forum !!

Just my opinion of course
A good one @ that

I am not saying that SNET is wrong but do feel it will discourage people from offering the advice which I think will be the case. As you can see from the second paragraph the changes must be across the board so I am not opposed to it at all. I was not slagging SNET off but expressing a view from a member that does use the Car Care section quite a bit who feels that the action will discourage people from posting.

Your points are taken on board & respected

Matts advice will still be more than welcome on the forums especially as he has removed his website link.

I am sure ESC members will still make sure his details are featured on these forums

Personally I think it's the banter that makes the ESC forum what it is, admittedly it's a little quiet at the mo unless you have a kite (but that will soon be a distant memory ) and whilst sometimes it can get out of hand we then need Mr Vaper to wield his magic wand.

All I will say is we don't want to go the other way and become too precious over what is said on here, unfortunately all the people cannot be pleased all of the time due to everyone interpeting posts differently.

I don't agree with the overuse of negging threads that is happening lately but again it's up to individuals what does happen on here.

Plus if we all use Dazza's smiley everyone knows it is meant lightheartidly.

IMHO
