Default anyone ride a motorbike?

hi ppl if you are planning a trip on your motorbike please be careful if using the A414 chelmsford/writtle area, as i witnessed two accidents within 15 minutes yesterday evening. first a motorcylsit over took some one and got side swiped and flung into my path, and the next one some one on a bike went straight into the back of a car. i was unlucky enough to be at both . luckilyeveryone ended up ok except for a few damaged vechiles,so just take it careful as it is a dangerous stretch of road.

Oh Goodness - how awful! At least there were no fatalities - which with bikes is so easy to become another "death statistic".
We always take care to look for bikes - however, sometimes, seeing the way some of 'em drive - its quite astounding to wonder how they're still alive at all!

Was thinking earlier that it's great bike weather, and started to regret seling my FZR, but when you think about the statistics, I think it was a good move!!

Bikers make up 1% of road traffic, but count for 26% of accidents!!

There are some nutter bikers out there, but it's not always the bikers fault

I agree. I used to think bikers were all mad and it was their own fault when they got knocked off....but now i have a bike I can see it from both sides. Some car drivers never look further than their bonnet and might as well have no windows or mirrors. I've had a few near misses where cars just pull out or move over into the gap they want, no thought for anyone that may already be occupying said gap whatsoever.

I guess they are less vulnerable to falling over in crashes so they don't have to be as careful on the road.

Rant over.

Yes indeed - its all too true - but whilst there are the safe bikers, who wear leathers and drive (within reason) quite sensible, there are those little freaks who put L plates on the bike - cause they think that way their safe not to get pulled over, and drive like lunatics, have no consideration for other road users or the law . Saw one guy yesterday who actually mounted the pavement to drive up to the beginning of his left filter lane - never a policeman around when you want one i guess!

It's the start of the silly season.

Coming back from the company lock up in Wickford, I saw a guy on a supersports bike wearing a helmet, t shirt, shorts, trainers and no gloves - makes me cringe everytime!! I know only too well how hot leathers can be, but there's now way I'd risk riding with out wearing ALL the gear!!

When I done my direct access course, I was told I looked like a power ranger!! I bought them for a reason and wouldn't consider riding with out it!!

Learning to ride a bike was a real eye opener for me, great experience and I don't regret it- one hell of a buzz!!

Would love to just go out for a ride and not have to worry about the numpties on the road!
