Default Chelmsford car auctions

Anyone on here been to them?

I'm looking at a few motors there tommorrow, which seems to be ex-fleet cars day. Just wondered if they go close to general private sale price, or if you can still get bargains.

Thats good news. But on the other hand, I can imagine dealers buying cars close to their profit margins just to get a sale or extra stock. I hope that isn't the case. Depends on the car I suppose.

spoke to him recently about chelmsford funnily enough, and he was saying something similar, really depends on who turns up on the day and what sort of cars are going through.

imho goto Manheim in Colchester or BCA at Enfield.......

I believe Chelmsford is an independant.............

I regularly drop cars to Manheim and BCA Enfield and Wimbledon......you will have a much larger choice.....

They have masses of cars going through, ex fleet,ex lease, met police etc etc.......

The Finance companies I work for will not use Chelmsford...

customdanioc, got any links to these sites?
Chelmsford seems to be the only one that you don't have to pay just to see the lot list on the site.

Also I have noticed you have to pay a buyers fee, although I can't seem to find anything about the actual costs. Anyone know if its just a small admin fee (less than 100 quid), or is it loads more?

I think there is just a buyers fee...I believe met police is £200 or so but the others vary..........

Find out which day has the Auction lot of vehicles in your cat..i.e.Ford or prestige...then just go along...

there is a buyers fee, but this depends on price of the car.

% terms think it's around 3%. for example hammer price of last car was 11k buyers fee £390.

also, and i hope i understood this correctly, most cars that go under the hammer require a £400 cash payment straight away. No credit or debit cards. the rest of the balance can then be paid however you chose.

Thanks guys.

Although the Manheim website says you have to be trade, and need to pay to sign up etc. I'd rather be able to look through the catalogue, before I had to pay anyhing, in case the car I am after is not on the list.

Yeah will call cheers. Although if its anything like todays auction, I won't.
Cars seemed massively overpriced, and after waiting for 3 hours to see the car I wanted, and then only getting to see it started up for a couple of minutes, I think I wil keeep looking at private sales.
