Default Calling the ESC Photography Crew

Decided to get myself a fad, so going to buy a camera.

Only want an entry level as I may not get into it so going for this:

http://www.crazycameras.co.uk/nikon-...FU6Z2AodCii10w

Was also recommnded a Canon entry level, but can't remember the model number.

Where is the best place to buy from and also what suggestions would you have for an entry DLR?

Cheers

Yep 1000D with those lenses is what I have.

Should have said yesterday, you could of had a play with mine (ooh-er Missus)

Nice and simple to use. Only down side, for me, is quite a small view screen so you really cant tell what you've got till you get it on to the pc. HTH

AFAIK Matt Neame is the only person that has gone the Nikon route.

Ok, the bloke in one shop was pushing me towards the Nikon, he thought it felt a bit more solid.

But he did also say to see what others had, to borrow lenses before I bought any extra ones.

Yeah we all seem to have gone for Canon, MNEAME has a canon too.

As Dazza says the 100D is the entry level.

The less numbers before the "D" the higher up the scale you go.

1000D = entry level

550D = Consumer level

50D = Prosumer level

7D = Professional level (but really they'd have the 1DS MKIII)

It's impossible to say what you should get as we (and you) have no idea how much you are going to get into the hobby. One thing is for sure is that if you get the bug it really isn't cheap but it is rewarding.

Any questions you feel like answering then feel free to pm one of us and we'll be happy to help, no problemo

I really don't know if I will get hooked, hence would rather have a £500 camera sitting in the cupboard than a £1000 one

Think I will go for the Canon 1000D then and see how I go, can always upgrade in a year or so anyway.

wooo hooo fad crew here I come

welcome to ESPC

see if your mate fancies selling one of his cameras.

if i could get decent money for my kit, id buy a second hand canon 40d

but, like with all things, its nice to have shiny new kit and then you can look after it and get years of service and enjoyment.

get a spare battery from 7dayshop £4.99 and your sorted !!!

btw £500 bundle is 2 lenses, decent bag. mem card and everything needed to get going. oh and buy yourself a "camera specific" field guide (book)

brian, id recomend this for you too mate.... seriously good reading

its an american body, not sure how much you'd use the other bits and what quality the other adaptors are...

flash looks pants

camera will be coverd my intl warranty so no worries there.

mem card is cheap quality too

not a bad package, but prob not what you want.

decent tripods are £60 plus, dont bother with cheap ones

and the little tripod will give you NO use with the dslr as it will topple over !

I'm glad Dazmondo posted 1st. As Dazzle says, its an imported kit with no warranty and ALL the parts are ****.

Seriously, avoid it.

Jessops will price match so you can pick up an excellent deal.

Also you more likely to talk Jessops into chucking in a few extras (Memory Card/ Camera bag) Curry's/Comet etc. don't seem to be able to do this.

I tried when I got mine, Jessops gave me the memory card and a UV filter for free and a top spec bag for half price.
