A question need answering?
Hello all,
I'm 25 and looking at getting a scooby Impreza 2000 turbo, however, everyone i've spoke to has said it will be too costly. I used to have a celica 1.8 turbo and was wondering what the difference between fuel cost of this car and the new one would be? Any advise is welcome!
Thanks
Chris

if you're bothered about fuel costs.... look away young man.
add to that the "running" costs and they can be money pits.
but having said that, they are a blast and i think everyone should own one at least once. (or in Dave's case 5 times!)
a non-modded uk2000 can prob return 25-30 driving like a pensioner in slippers (or loooie) but thats not really the point of ownership, chuck a few mods and a lead foot into the equation and 15-20mpg is more like it !
harse news, but true !
come along to a meet and go out in a few if you like !

I appreciate all the help I can get, going to a meet sounds like a good idea. Where is the next meet or are the details on this site?
Frayz, not sure on how many miles a year i'll be doing in it and yes it will be my daily drive. I would drive it sensibly because it would be my pride and joy but, every now and then my foot would get a little heavier!!!

If I drive VERY carefully in my JDM V2 STI, I can get 20MPG if I'm lucky and the car only has a few mods - exhaust, induction kit, uprated fuel pump and adjustable fuel pressure regulator, coupled that with a gearbox that allows me to see 70MPH @ 4000RPM - great acceleration - naff top end!

I have a real hobby horse about the extortionate price of wiper blades. I mean how can they be so expensive
I can buy a DVD player for less than the price of a wiper blade and that has a chuffin' laser inside it

Fuel costs on a scoob are now rediculous. I put £45 quid of 99 finest in on Monday, which gave me just over half a tank. 60 around town miles later and quarter of a tank has gone. So that's about £22.50 or 38p(ish) per mile just in petrol and around 15mpg. Which is worse than I thought I was getting. That's driving it nicely too as I've had the kids in the car the last 2 days.
But they are a real crack to drive. You won't find much else out there for the grin factor you get for similar money.
