Default Volcano

How many of you know people affected by the dust.
We have my father in law stuck in Bahrein after he went out as a Barc marshall for a porsche race. Not a bad place to be stuck though.
Some friends were flying out to the Maldives for a dream holiday end of last week have`nt heard from them but presume they did`nt get away.

Was lovely out @ sea today with not one plane / white jet stream / noise in the sky , must be wonderful for those living on a flightpath

But you have to feel for those losing holidays etc .. compensation claims may also be a little complicated as i'm sure this may go down as an act of god & maybe just maybe this is natures way of telling us all to slow down !!

My parents live in Menorca, came home a couple of weeks ago and can't get back. My dad is thinking of driving back as there doesn't seem to be any good news coming from the airlines.
We test a lot of the fuel that supplies Heathrow, Gatwick, Stanstead and Luton and would normally have 3 or 4 tanks a day in. So far all the all the airports and storage terminals are full, so no testing needed, looks like a nice easy week for me!

CHS Hire HQ has been even more peaceful as somedays the planes circle round us as they land at Stansted.

But I fear it won`t be long before some shops are struggling with fresh produce which is flown in daily. Better get stocked up on my bananas. LOL

I've just driven back from H(silent 'H') ackney past Stansted and there are no planes taking off

Amazingly quiet around here, I can actually hear an owl outside my office (during the day so it MIGHT be another bird )

As Ark said above we are under the flight path for Stansted & it is eerily quiet.

I do feel for those people who need to get somewhere, ie a wedding or sick family member, however I think my Dad is one of the lucky ones. He is on an all expenses paid trip to Bahrain paid for by BARC, and as he is retired he has nothing to rush home for.....!

Also, was just wondering if Dr Who & the Tardis have been grounded?

I think the Tardis is used to a bit of dust whether it's interstellar or volcanic. Mind you if I was the Dr I honestly wouldn't mind getting stuck with his latest assistant

Not too struck on her myself, but perhaps she will grow on me as the episodes progress, I was a bit like that with Katherine Tate and by the end I thought she was excellent...

More importantly than my opinions, we've already had dozens of phone calls at work asking if we are having her as a signing in the shop! - Despite being told NO - the calls don't stop! - Mind you Tom Baker thinks she's OK...

Just had a thought.. we could chuck some dust over the Tardis stock, then claim it is "cosmic dust" via Iceland and flog them at double the price.....

If that's the way you want to play it.....

What's the difference between Cheryl Cole & the Icelandic volcano?

The volcano is still blowing ash........

Should we start all the volcano jokes or wait a while for the dust to settle?

It appears life is starting to return to normal for the people in Norfolk for the first time in nearly a century now that regular sightings of "the big scary metal dragons in the sky" have suddenly stopped.

I think British Airways having 'clear the air talks' a few weeks ago seems a bit ironic now.

Hats off to the Icelandic people.

First they declared themselves bankrupt...

Then they set their island on fire....

Anyone else smell the mother of all insurance frauds?

So much for reducing co2 emmisions, protect the ozone layer, be careful of your carbon foot print, reduce global warming figures etc etc Is it me or doesn't the environment seem to be very friendly at the moment?
