Just checked my neighbours :-
I am almost positive that Virgin are mixing my neighbours connection and mine up, as they (next door) have only ever had the base package (have checked their speed in the past), and mine is always at this speed !!
A snotty call to Virgin tomorrow methinks!

Not sure how reliable that test site is though, when I get this result 2 mins later......
Both tests done with Ben watching Sky player on his XBox in the next room.

I'm on the phone to Virgin at the moment ..... They hung up on me whilst I was on hold after 15 minutes already !!!
Now into another Queue and waiting to talk to someone again !
Not happy with them, as it seems they have allocated my package to my neighbour and vice versa !

ping tests to speed test servers are irrelevant to overall internet speed. as you are pinging an ambiguous server which could be anywhere, with any route.
gaming ping tests are more relevant as you are connecting to a dedicated server.
if that makes sense

Been on to them again and the tech guy cut me off for asking where the call centre was that he was at, as he couldn't get my account number right, and I had repeated it around 5 times !!
So, I have been on to them for yet another 15 minutes !!!
My blood is boiling and I am currently in a queue ...... Again to bloody India !

Maybe the tech guy thought you were being obscene Pingtest sounds like ***** in an Indian accent. If you rang me and told me you'd done loads of Pingtests
I'd hang up too

After another 25 mins on the phone, I get told that I have had my usage 'capped' !!!!
I also found out, that the package I am on (10Mb) which is charged quite highly has been matched on the lower tariffs ... The 2Mb package has been put up to 10Mb with no extra charge to the lower package users !!!!!
I will now be looking around for a different service provider, unless Virgin want to give me extra for nowt !
