Just thought I'd Share....
Picked my new WRX blob eye wagon up Sat morning, so had the weekend to play, and what a machine it is. One min it can be sat on the motorway chewing up the miles, next it can be on the twisty roads causing a massive grin on your face. My only gripe would be the brakes. I really have to stamp on them for anything to happen, I have just brought new discs and pads all round and getting them fitted next week along with a major service, so I hope this resolves this problem. Has anyone else had this experience?

Grats on the new motor.
Depending on when it was last done, it might be worth having the brake fluid changed too.
On my hawk sti I only need to touch the pedal and it pulls my speed right down, and my disks are nearly shot too.

As the rent boy above says may be time to replace the fluid. I felt the difference when my pads/discs/fluid were replaced. To be fair though it is a lump to stop!

The brake fluid is getting changed with the service. I've gone for OEM discs and pads. As im guessing Subaru have put a bit of thought into it. I did look at upgrading but the main purpose of the car is ferrying the dog around so there won't be much hard driving going on. If there is no improvement I've heard about braided hose pipes help improve breaking power?

Hi and welcome to Subaru ownership, I hope you have deep pockets
The standard 4 pot Subaru brake setup is shocking tbh and it would be a good time to upgrade to either the STI Brembo kit or a proper setup like AP, K-sport etc. you can pick up a decent secondhand brembo kit for around £400 in the for sale section on here.
Plenty of clued up people in ESOC who will give good help and advice with any problems

Thanks everyone, I'll give the new OEM setup a go, then failing that I'll try some performance friction pads, or bite the bullet and go for a full upgrade.

If you're not going for sustained track use then you'll be surprised how well the stock setup will work with a decent pad upgrade in the OEM 4 pot calipers.
Depending on your current wheel setup, the OEM STI Brembos may not fit with the clearance provided by your current wheels.
Braided lines will provide some better "feel" to the pedal but ultimately not increase your stopping power.
The OEM STI Brembo setup is very good, but in your position I'd go with a good mannered, high performance pad and some fresh high performance fluid.
Cheapest outlay vs noticeable improvement.
