I don't know what plate they are on about as there isn't a plate of any description in there except the actual clutch plate.
Flywheel bolts onto the crank then the clutch bolts onto it with the release bearing in the centre and thats it apart from engine casing and gearbox housing there's bugger all else except the clutch release fork.
Sounds to me like they're telling porkies and they've not done something they're claiming to have done, whether that be the clutch plate, release bearing, or the skimming of the flywheel, but they have defo tried to have your pants down for a few quid.
They ARE talking crap.

Somethings iffy for sure, they may have reused the pressure plate or thrust bearing or even the clutch, I always find it's best to get them to show you the old parts after and tell them you want to see the new ones too.
All this kind of **** is why i'm tooled up and DIY, saves a fortune and instead of spending money on labour i get shiny new tools.

The flywheel/ spigot bearing should be inspected when fitting a clutch. if this was seized it would cause drag through the input shaft in the box. Did they skim your flywheel if so was it checked for balancing as a incorrect balanced flywheel will result in your main crankshaft bearings to fail.
