Cracking/creaking noise when jacking front of car
Hi all
Is it normal to get loud cracking/creaking noises when jacking up the front of the car with a trolley jack?
I only jacked it up slightly - (wheels weren't off the ground so it wasn't high) when it made these noises - kind of like it was coming from the jack itself but hard to tell. In fear I quickly lowered it back down. The plate where I jacked the car isn't bent or damaged or anything
I used the correct jacking point - the plate behind the sump
My guess is that its normal but thought I'd ask
Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question - better safe than sorry tho

I realise it's not the most exciting post in the world, but I wrote about my recent experience with jacks and axle stands here...

PS: I didn't experience any nasty cracking or groaning noises. It was probably the jack.
