FUEL PUMP DEAD

FUEL PUMP DEAD
This morning my cars uprated 255lph fuel pump (after market chinese crap, not Walbro) packed in. (It died after three years)
So I go and re-fit the stock oem pump. The reason for that was I did not have an uprated 255lph pump to hand and I needed to get car on road.
so far car is driving ok, but I just want to know what implications will the OEM pump have, if any, to my vehicle's performance, as its been mapped on uprated fuel pump not stock.
Also would a remap/tweak be necessary, once I fit the Walbro 255LPH.

My 02 wrx is having feul pump issues I think. When I turn the key to start the car the feul pump doesn't prime and the car wont even crank. Although other times it will prime and start no problem . Any ideas? Its a walbro 225 ...

A fuel pump is there to flow enough fuel
Upgraded pumps make no difference much of the time on normal driving on a mapped car.
Where they are a must is that when a mapped car is being driven hard on boost. At those moments an OEM pump will not flow enough fuel. Hence the need for a 225lph 300lph pump ect, depending to state of tune.
So the answer to your question is.
If the car has not been mapped and is basically OEM with minimal mods that do not greatly effect the way the engine breaths. Then no problem.
If the car has been mapped taking into account mods and a fuel pump that flows more per hour. Then you will have problems

Bob Rawle said to me in an email, that I will need to replace the OEM pump with an uprated one and not to push the car as the std OEM pump will be under fueling it. He also told me when the pump is replaced it will need mapping again ?????

I meant less per hour
If you have been intouch with Bob. I guess your car is mapped, as he says take it easy in it.
It wont be a full remap. More of a tweak, safety check once you have another 255lph pump back in.

oops ! I made the big mistake of not switching the filters over when I fitted the Walbro 255 pump. It backfired on me today, when I had a quarter of a tank of fuel, I booted it up hill, the power just went flat, virtually came to a stand still as the small baby filter was not dispersed into the tank , so I contacted Andrew Carr, who mapped my car, and he told me I should have used the bigger stock filter, and thrown away the small filter that came with the walbro pump, so I had to go through the whole process again, removing the seats etc etc, now the bigger filter is fitted, and again booted up hill with 1/4 of tank, and hurray, problem resolved. Like they say, you learn from your mistakes.
