Hi,does anybody know if the stock rear diff on a MY03 sti jdm is a suretrac or a mechanical/plated diff?Reason for asking is because i couldnt find any info to see if i should use ls oil.box is ty856wb3ka.many thanks

 

Don't know, but for sure use an LS oil if it is plated.
I used a "recommended" non LS oil in the back of my STI and it sounded like it was gonna rip itself to bits.

Mine was an 06 UK STI.
My guess would be that yours is plated - but that is a guess and no more.
Maybe stick some non LS in there and try a few three point turns

 

Front diff is a suretrac rear diff is a plated 180.

 

Is this the same set up for a 2001 JDM STI ? thanks Paul.
