Issues fitting bugeye WRX engine into 99/00
Mate needs a new engine for his uk turbo MY00.
Found a bugeye WRX 2001 engine that seems good but is he going to encounter any issues fitting this to his UK car? I think I'd rather do this and get a newer engine but I don't mind tinkering about but he wants straight forward.
Can he just bolt his inlet and ancillaries on?
Is crank and cam sensor location same?
Otherwise, anyone got a good 99/00 lump?

I know an STI would be a no-no as the cams are different enough for the EcU to be too far out.
The WRX should have softer cams, so should work, but my advice would be to check with Simon JGM who will know if the ECU will work or not straight out.
The safe option would be just to swap the UK heads over to the WRX short block.

It won't work, the cam and crank triggering is completely different in the new age engine compared to the GC8 and the oem ecu will not read them. You will need to change both crank and cam trigger wheels to allow it to function. Also you will need to remove the tumble valves and associated components as well otherwise you will strangle it.
