hi all, could anyone shed some light onto the strange high pitch rattle im getting from somewhere near my topend. the noise does not occure before or after it hits 4500rpm. the car is 2.0i 98 impreza sport and its my pride and joy so obviously the noise is really gettin to me now. it still runs just fine all the way thru the box. any ideas wud be much appreciates. thanks all

that would be much appreciated if you could. im in allesley mate. the noise in question is at exactly 3500rpm not 4500. its like a high very quick rattle and its driving me mad lol

 

Hiya

The exhaust heat shields rust and the spot welds break and then they rattle at certain engine speeds - my old sport used to rattle like hell at just under 3000 rpm until I took them off.
