Default Secondary Air Pump

Hi guys,

I've read lots about this, most people suggest to just take it out and blank off the valves. It also sounds like a pig of a job, but would like to have a look at it first to see what is involved and then decide whether or not to replace the busted valves (even though i know they'll go again) or to give it to a garage and get it blanked off.

Does anyone know of a guide/video/pictures of everything? I'm led to believe the passenger side is a piece of cake and the drivers side requires turbo removal?

Thanks,
Dean

OK, done a bit more digging. Found everything i needed just by looking, however i have no idea what the actual problem is after testing everything below. Pictures below of both valves.

1. Fuses & Relays for Air Pump - all fine
2. Valve #1 (Easy one) took off, looks shut to me
3. Valve #2 (Hard one) left on but took a shot of it, looks the same as #1
4. Put 12v across the air pump, fires up and pumps air like mad, so that works
5. Checked the voltage across the plug going to the pump, 0 volts? Not sure if this is because the ECU hasn't fired it up or what.

Any thoughts folks? I'd rather not have to spend a load of money getting the system removed if it's something silly.

Deanthomas , it's more likely ( as it's the commonest fault) in the system
That one ( or 2) of the servo valves have been corroded inside due to water ingress from condensation ( will be white chalky powder inside .
You could try cleaning them out but in all honesty. Just do away with the system

Regards

Thanks, and i know this is everyones input. But it just doesn't make sense. Why am i not getting an error code for the specific valves? I'm just getting the P2444, if i unplug the valves i get the correct codes, but plug them in and they are fine... Sorry for trying to fix a problem that i know is going to come back, but i just don't have the money right now for a removal.

Then my advise. Would be disconnect the pump from the loom
The rubber pipe wich runs from the servo , back of intercooler to pump / put a bung in there . Disconnect the servo 's from loom
Then either have the codes erased or live with the CEL
