Hey guys and girls. is there any simple way of telling if the turbo on my bugeye wrx is a vf34 by just looking from under the hood?

Yeah looks just like that, were that had the 7e tp mine has 2d tp? Also i spot a light blue injector he said they were pink, so makes sense if hes lied about the injectors then points towards the turbo to.

It was on swaps website, its been taking down now, was sti ecu, pink injectors,vf34 turbo, walbro fuel pump, turbo back exhaust, sti tmic k&n pannel filter. He said the boost had been manually turned down to 0.7bar using a manual boost controller, mods i know for sure are true is the sti tmic and full exhaust.

I know this sounds harsh, but I need to be frank about your situation.
You've been diddled and I don't think there is a great deal you can do about it as you swapped a car for a car, ie there is little "documentation" to peruse a claim against the other party, so your likely now stuck with the deal, unless you fancy going to visit the other chap to have it out man to man ?
So the situation is now, is you have a car that is probably running either lean or rich and needs addressing, a MBC in my opinion is a no,no unless it's mapped with it accordingly. I could go to town to explain the what-ifs, but a quick search on here would tell all you need to know.

sti ecu - doubt it
pink injectors - probably WRX in
vf34 turbo - probably TD04
walbro fuel pump - how would you know without checking?
turbo back exhaust - all tweaked Subarus are pretty much fitted with SS exhaust to get that burble
sti tmic - your sure it is a STI one and not a WRX with the logo stencilled?
k&n pannel filter - so you've checked?.
He said the boost had been manually turned down to 0.7bar using a manual boost controller - is that not lower than standard boost as standard?
All this reads very wrong, forget the remap for now, get it looked at as you have said with evotune and let's see what is said.
At the end of the day we are assuming it's got a TD04, this is rated to around 275-300bhp if your lucky, but at 0.7bar I'd imagine it would be lucky to be 200bhp

Mate evo tune will lift you all of your worries don't worry
Might set you back a few quid in the short term, but that leon will be a thing of the past once you get the car set up properly
Sounds like the guy tried to do everything on the cheap and forgot the most important part of subaru mods... The remap
Also for your turbo you need to look at that plate, look at the one bannysti posted, there should be a plate around the same location
Even if it's the standard one as in bannys picture it should still say it

Also just read on another thread you can't get mapped untill September
Give Duncan a call from racedynamix http://www.racedynamix.co.uk/remap/
He comes to your place or you can meet on a rolling road
Cheaper than most places too and honestly a really good guy
Where abouts are you? I think Duncan may have done mine on the rolling road at evo tune
DLM in darlington is also a really good garage, Darren who owns it - lives and breathes subarus, if he doesn't know it, then it's not worth knowing

Thank you for the reply, yeah his reason to swap was his wife wouldn't let him put cash into it and she couldn't stand the Scooby and told him to get rid, i took the swap taking the risk as i never thought id own a Scooby, he originally wanted the Leon cupra r but settled for mine as it was set up for stage 2..... The Scooby drives great with no clunks or bangs, it has done 70k millage with past mot certificates, and has loads of reciepts of work carried out so i took his word.

Don't worry though mate sounds like all is needed is removing that nasty manual boost controller and a remap and fingers crossed all will be well

Give Duncan a call if you do arrange can you do me a favour and let me know if you book him anytime after the 22nd as I'm getting some work done on mine and prob will need a tweak
