Innovate Mtx-L wideband issue.
Hi all
I installed the above wideband around a year ago in place of the stock lambda and has been great. Few days ago it started jumping allover the place so i pulled it out for a calibration. now is working intermittently but most of the time is on 22.4. Knackered sensor? if so, they dont last long do they....

Hi as Rig says 22.4 is what you would expect to see when no fuel is present.
Now you say you put this sensor in place of your standard one ??? where did you fit the sensor?
if fitted in the front sensor position i would say your sensor has failed, they wont last long there!!

Its located in the downpipe in place of the standard one on a my98. It reads fine to 16 then jumps to 22.4 and stays untill i give it a rev or accelrate a bit. Then its ok until i lift off and close throttle.

ive only had mine a few mths so not used to a failed sensor yet so dont know the signs as such, but when i had mine fitted temp int he tailpipe, it wasnt in enough and read 22.4 for ages until i revved it then it changed but then went back to 22.4, mine now is fitted where yours is currently (downpipe) . maybe it has failed as its reading 16 then jumps to 22.4. try a recalibrate if not, looks like its fubard as not alot to go wrong as such

Hi
So does it only read 22.4 when you are driving and you lift off the throttle?
If so then this is normal - when you are off the throttle most modern injection systems do not inject any fuel so you will get a 22.4 reading. I do on mine!!!!
Sorry never had to much to do with classics is the sensor in the down pipe at the bottom like on a new age or at the top just behind the turbo???
If at the bottom the jump from 16-22.4 will probably be caused by a bit of lag i cant remember the exact figures but i read on the innovate forum they have est lag times for the readout depending on how far away from the combustion chamber the sensor sits.
Rig i have never used in the back box but iirc i can be a second or 2 lag for the readings so you need to adjust this time to your logs when tuning as the afr reading may be say half a second after combustion meaning you need to move your log back half a second to make the afr match up if you know what i mean???

nope it reads at 22.4 loads then sometimes comes to life read 11 - 13 ish then upto 22.4. im pretty sure now the sensor is a gonna. can feel it now to, bit hesitant when idling and crusing about. so ecu knows too lol. ill order a new one and go from there. might just be clogged with soot or carbon but ill grab a new one to be sure. it is in the same position as urs jimbob. just behind the turbo. response in the past is instant, i slowed it down to help the ecu keep up as the narrowband doesnt update as quick.

Ye that sounds like the sensor is on its way. You could double check the voltages from the sensor ( I'm pretty sure the correct values were in the installation manual when u read it).
Mines been I a couple of yrs now with no prob s. Touch wood. I used the thermal spacer from innovate as well though. I also didnt replace my narrowband but added it in as well. Just use the gauge and for logging.

Im gonna pull it out tomorrow and give it a clean with some squirty maf egr cleaner and recalebrate. See what happens. It was working pretty well today for a few mins after a little accelleration up a sliproad so might just be bunged up.

Well after removing, cleaning, calibrating and reinstalling the sensor is dead was kind of a kill or cure thingy and its deffo knackered. so its new sensor time. Calibrated and sat at 22.4 in free air then started dancing around while still in free air. put it back in anyway and its jumping all over the place and then giving am E8 error
