Default Badddd misfire.

Hi all new user.
Just bagged myself a cheap bugeye 2002 wrx.
Massively unloved is the car.
Quite a few problems to get work on.
First being a bad misfire under load between 3-5k, car drives spot on if taking it easy. Any help is much appreciated.
I have ordered an obd lead. But also could do with software for win 7 ultimate pls. Thanks.

Hi Paul,

Sounds like your doing the right thing getting diagnostics equipment to start with rather than throwing parts at it, though if it's been neglected the plugs wouldn't be a bad place to start, any idea when they were last changed? You'll probably want to put news ones in it regardless so may as well change them

Yeah plugs on order pal. Just bought from a dealer p ex to clear. Massively unloved though. They had no details on service history full stop so all will eventually get done. Gonna try n pull plugs out see what state they r in while I await mine turning up.

I have the same issue. I've swapped the coil and leads but problem is still there. Just the small matter of swapping the plugs out...

No problem,

I went;
clean out air filter;
clean out EGR/PCV valve;
clean out the egr pipework;
check for air/vacuum leaks;
check engine earth straps;
change plugs, gapped at 0.7mm - check them.
change cam sensor;

Reset ECU - NASIOC has a post on a fast relearn trick for after the ecu is reset.

Read fault codes and go from there.

So I've had a clean up. Removed plugs with checks and coil leads all seems fine in good condition. Problem is I've made it worse. FS lol.
