Knocking Noise
HI All
My mate has a Subaru Impreza 2000 so apologies now for any sketchy details re the issue - I can ask anything
Car started to make massive knocking noise - switched engine off immediately.
Upon investigation taken the sump out and found metal bits inside
Taking the pistons out ( 2 at this stage as cannot get to the others ) and they show signs of the grinding.
Next question is how do we get the oil pump out? again without taking the engine out?
Think that its the Crank Shaft Bearings but which one is the most common to give issues? How do we get them out without taking the engine out? ( we have a pit so no issues on that front )
Any advise or qualifying questions please post.
Thanks a million

There will be someone along with a lot more knowledge then me about Subaru engines.
However I'm sure they'll say you'll need to remove the engine, split the block and remove the heads.
Reason being there will be bits of swarf all through the oil ways which you'll have to thoroughly clean out.
Otherwise your rebuilt engine internals will just be damaged again.
Just spotted you are from Horley. I stayed there as a small kid, in Haroldslea Close.
Best of luck with the repair.

Jaygsi... Just wondering who's offering that service for a grand? And what did you mean be sell up, you mean the engine or the whole car?
It was running 450hp... and the rest of the car is good!
