Default Newbie after some opinions and help from the pros

Hey everyone just bought my second scooby had my first when I was a young wally who just wanted to show off now I'm a bit older and appreciate them lol. Just after a bit of info really bought a 2000wrx uk model with straight through 3' exhaust fmic k&n and brembo brakes that's all the mods it's got. Basically I want a bit more power 300+ comfortably, what turbo do people recommend? Td05 or gt30? Where's good to get a map? What can these engines take before it starts getting risky? Thanks Jamie

Welcome to the site mate. You will have a turbo 2000, a wrx is a different model (jap import) what age vehicle have you brought, there are 3 versions for the uk versions. 300ish is a good amount to aim for. Any thing higher and it's going to cost you. Td05 will come in different weights, I would also look at a vf34/vf35 as upgrade. With the mods you have I would have thought you will Already have a map, do you know where it was done, service history

Thank you for your reply mate much appreciated. I've got no dyno paperwork with it was told it was mapped to 280bhp but no proof :/. I think it's running rich at moment idling goes funny when coming to a stop sometimes cuts out. Could that be to do with the maf? What are them turbos capable of them vfs?

Late classic is a good base, you will already have yellow 440s, 4 pots etc. Could be an issue, always with fitting another item, with the vehicle being 14, also advisable to change the fuel pump.

Am I right in thinking it might be the maf? There's no misfire or any other symptoms just when slowing down idling goes a bit funny very rarely cuts out. Also I noticed between the icv there's no gasket could this be to do with it maybe slightly leaking?

You have the 2000 turbo? Think with those mods and a remap you will see 260-280, but there was one guy on here that hit 300bhp with standard turbo, same model as yours, will see if can find post, shows graph and bhp etc

helo good sir if you already have 440cc injectors. A uprated fuel pump and a TD05 you should be good for around 330ish bhp. you can get a walbro fulepump witch are good but if you have a bit extra to spend then go for the RCM one http://www.rogerclarkmotorsport.co.u...productID=1301

and as for a map http://www.jollygreenmonster.com/subaru.htm are one of the best. The mappers name is simon hes mapt loads of subarus+more (including loads on this site) hes mobile so will meet you anywhere. the numbers at the bottom of the page.. tell him what you want out of your car and he will advice what he thinks is safe.

my car did the same. if I came to a sudden stop the rev count drops to 100rpm almost stall then back up to norm it never stalled but I replace all my vac hoses and a bolt missing out the exhaust witch left a small open gab and it stopped mite be the same thing.

hummmm I no the u.k specs are not as strong as the imports but there still good. if it was mine i won't take it past 350bhp without the internals changed but ask for the mappers advice he will give you his opinion on what he thinks is safe. And the 5speed gearboxs can be temperamental at the best of times that's why most people go for a 6speed. It dose have a lot to do with the way you drive tho. if it blows the 5speed boxes go for around £100 2nd hand i got one on stand by because mines playing up . i got my TD05 and gearbox on standby at MidlandsSubaruSpares i aslo no they have a walbro 225 fuelpump for £30 0115 975 3555 they have loads of parts (used) but there cheap ring them around 12pm and you will get thro to the boss his names zak
